Because the concept that the fundamental forces are actually fundamental
interactions between particles that are transmitted by other particles
(gauge bosons) is a concept of quantum mechanics (QM), while general
relativity (GR) is a theory based on classical mechanics and differential
geometry.

Efforts are underway to formulate a quantum-mechanical theory of gravity,
which would require the so-called “graviton” as the spin-2 gauge boson of
the gravitational interaction. This would be a next step towards a Theory
of Everything (ToE).

Finally a valid statement from the stupid. It must be a mistake.
