LET had it by an ad hoc fitting of the data to phenomenological equations (the Lorentz transform equations). Einstein DERIVED those equations from the basic principles of his two postulates.

even though Einstein came up with the same answer Lorentz came up with

You mess two things up, which have nothing to do with each other:
- the question, what you want to measure
- the means you use to measure this something.
Here we have a definition of simultaneity and how this could be measured.
Now you seem to think, this measuring device is actually, what
constitutes the thing we try to measure.
Only, this is not the case.
The measuring device is a human artefact and the certain aspect of
nature, humans try to measure with it, is not.
Here I make a distinction between 'nature' and 'artefact'.
'Nature' is defined as what is not an artefact, which would include
distant stars and the entire universe.
This is where it is and behaves how it behaves with or without human
interference.
We humans use light as means to measure certain aspects, like
simultaneity. But this measuring does not constitute simultaneity.
We can make definitions without being able to measure that, since a
definition is a certain statement, that makes clear, what such a term
should express.
We could define elves, for instance, even if none was ever seen.
This is so, because the definition is not based on observability, but is
a certain statement, by which we make clear ('define'), what we want to
express with a certain term (here: elves/simultaneity).

Idiot! I'm not surprised Seto calls you names. The rod can be made to settle down without any twisting or oscillation when the acceleration stops. Do you know what critical damping is? --
