The fact that particles can pass through matter with hardly interacting 
at all was noted by many around 1900, most notably Rutherford. The vast 
majority of alpha particles passed through a gold foil completely 
unaffected, revealing that atoms are mostly empty space. Please note 
that this means that alpha particles did not punch little holes through 
the gold foil. We know furthermore that cosmic rays easily pass through 
roofs of buildings and through our bodies, for the most part not 
interacting at all -- with no little holes being created.

Do Rutherford's beta particles propagate through 2 inches of steel? Also, show me a photography of the external target after interacts with the particle beam, and also a photography of the entry point of the subatomic particles that propagate into the bubble chamber. Lets see some photographs of a electron beam interacting with a target next to the bubble chamber which would be extremely dangerous since liquid hydrogen is extremely explosive. Why is the electron beam mechanism so far from the bubble chamber since the magnets do the increase the energy of the electron beam.  Furthermore, there are proton and electron welders.  Can you explain how a proton and electron welder functions if, according to Rutherford, and Bodkin that steel that is being welded is essentially empty space. I predict that the bubble tracks were created using computer imaginary similar to the photography of the Milky Way and black holes.

You seem to have a memory problem: Rutherford used alpha particles, which
are the positive nuclei of helium atoms.  And, yes they would be stopped
by the thinnest thickness of steel.  IIRC, Tom was talking about muons.
High energy muons might lose about 5 MeV/cm, if my guesstiment is in the
ballpark.  So, yes, 60 MeV muons can indeed go through 2 inches of steel.

Computer imagery ("computer imaginary"?) in 1952, when the bubble chamber
was invented?  How about the similar cloud chamber, invented in 1911?
You can even make cloud chambers at home.

What do muons have to do with subatomic particles propagating through 2 inches of the steel of the bubble chamber, forming the bubble tracks? This is similar to Bodkin (4/19/2016 9:50 AM) argument that Rutherford experiment's beta particles propagating through a gold foil to justify subatomic particles propagating through two inches of steel. It appears that the photographs that are used in particle physics, to represent the hydrogen liquid bubble tracks, are derived using computer imagery similar to the photographs of the Milky way and black holes. Your muon argurment, to justify particle physics, is non sequitur.
