Where to begin...The movie was a cinematic apotheosis of Robert J. Oppenheimer.  The plot concentrated on an obscure hearing in which RJO was deprived of his top secret security clearance for not championing the H bomb in a timely manner and for his former association with the American Communist Party.  Einstein, the traitorous Klaus Fuchs and all the usual scientific suspects were portrayed in the movie.  Not portrayed: the 220,000 casualties at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the crew of the Enola Gay, nor Richland WA, the site of the second nukular reactor ever built.  The movie was somewhat abstract.  Lots of smash edits to all sorts of things.  Once during the security committee hearing Oppy was suddenly copulating with his paramour in front of the committee.  The timeline was no linear.  I might have more to type later.  I am interested in Dono's review. 

Einstein was god himself.  If you have Einstein derangement syndrome then do not watch this movie.  I guess the post World War II world did in fact treat these people like gods.

The movie also dwelled on that point, Richard.  Bohr was a villain working for the Nazis.  I think it was Bohr.  Another villain,  the chief villain of the movie, was an obscure American bureaucrat attempting to get into the Eisenhower Cabinet.  The destruction of Oppy was apparently essential to this goal.  Rather a silly plot line, considering the momentousness of the development of the bomb.

The movie's smash edits back and forth between Oppy's security hearing, the Eisenhower Bureaucrat's Senate confirmation hearing, Oppy's personal life, and his Los Alamos life.  Non-linear and hard to follow plot line.  The Senate confirmation hearing was chaired by none other than my own state's legendary Warren G. Magnusson, a Democrat and functional alcoholic of the Winston Churchill variety.  The Reagan Revolution swept Damned ol' Maggie out of office after three decades of doing shots and being drunk in the well of the Senate.  Nonetheless, he was very powerful and very effective.  He got Grand Coulee Damn built and all kinds of contracts for Boeing.  The  US Senate is an interesting institution in which a relatively insignificant states, like WA can still produce incredibly powerful and effective Senators on the national level. Our Junior Senator was another legend of the Senate, Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson.  These two titans played very large parts in moulding much of the conditions of the post-WWII world you all grew up in.  The first time I was old enough to vote, I voted for Reagan and against Maggie.  I am very proud to boast that in my life I have never voted Democrat.

Let me hasten to add that after decades of betrayal I will never vote RINO ever again.  In fact, I have more contempt for a Seattle Republican ( I think there still might be one left) than I do a garden variety Democrat.

In particular, Feynman found that about one in five of the safes
at Los Alamos could be opened with the factory default setting
of the combination.   (he had found out what is was)
All those geniusses just hadn't thought of changing it.
