#423285 — Does Light Really Exist.

SubjectDoes Light Really Exist.
Message-ID<oihk91$800$1@gioia.aioe.org>
Nobody has ever seen a light ray. A person in empty space would not know
if an intense laser beam went right past his nose.
Our eyes perceive images of objects as they were at a previous instant.
So c is really just the speed of information.
How do we know the thing we call light actually exists?

This is philosophy. Science does not address whether things exist.

Sylvia.

Light is perfectly invisible, woman. What it is you don't understand.
Dr. HGW is perfectly consistent.

Sylvia is right. And moreover, the fact that light does not radiate to
the sides does not mean it doesn't exist. Try standing IN FRONT OF the
laser beam and then come back and tell us light does not exist.

Another half-engineer, not knowing that light is perfectly invisible. Let
me requote.

When you look, foolish, into a laser beam, what you detect/see is the
excited surface atoms, whatever technology, gaseous or solid state. You
are insufficient.

Gee, I guess using a green laser pointer to point out stars is just the
hallucinations of a crazy astronomer :-))

Some of the light in the ray is scattered along the path, giving an
obvious indication of its passing. Bt pay no attention to that 'cause
some self-proclaimed "expert" says it isn't so.

You must be crazy, and definitely NOT a physicists, thinking that the
green line you see is the light being visible. It is the SCATTERED light
by the whatever dust particles and air MOLECULES. Amazing that you can be
fooled so easy. Thinking that one can see MONOCHROME light, reveals
likewise poor understanding and zero dark-room laboratory experience.

I wasn't fooled at all, not even by the dishonest, yammering 'nym-shifting
troll, who seems to believe that scattered light is irrelevant.

Thinking one CAN'T see monochrome light reveals the abysmal depth of the
understanding of the stupid, blathering 'nym-shifting troll, who has such
a poor life that he spends his valuable time here on earth making pointless
posts. Sort of like Pointless Prevaricating Pentcho, Ridiculous Ralph
Rabbidge and Supercilious Seto. Well, actually, all three of you guys are
arrogant beyond belief, which arrogance is only exceeded by your ignorance.

That's the excited surface atoms, my liebe freunde in Divergent Matter,
and NOT the light. That's how the scattering works, absorption and
reflection. Those are PROCESSES. Precesses are abstract activity which
implies RESONANCE. That's how the emission and reception works. Using
antennas. Maaan, that I need to emphasise, these peoples are morons, not
physicists.

No one has seen a T-Rex alive and walking around. However, there is
essentially zero doubt that T-Rex's once lived and walked around.
There's reason for that, obviously.

Now, the question is, do you NEED to see a light ray go by to know that
light exists?

Bod, put your mind in gear and quit wandering the forests of political
debate. T-Rex is in the past and hence cannot be seen. Light is in the
now and can be seen. In fact, it's HOW you "see", dummy! The fact that
light waves to not propagate to the sides does not mean the forward
propagation does not exist.Indeed forward beams of light always produce
energy to the side even though it is in the forward direction. That
energy even extends to infinity! Give them the mathematics on this Odd.

Actually I believe, I read somewhere that the T-Rex doctrine is been
falsified. Same way the "Lucy", the African missing link, being revealed
as fake from head to tail.

Yes, a person won't see a light ray unless it intersects her eye. So what? We do
see light that does intersect our eyes all the time.

IIUC, according to at least two official definitions of “(light) ray”, that
is not true:

<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_(optics)> (see references)

So (light) rays can be seen, e.g.

- when light shines through orifices in translucent/opaque material, e.g.
  sunlight shines through clouds

  <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunlight#/media/File:Sunshine_at_Dunstanburgh.JPG>

- when directed light (e.g. from a flashlight or headlamp, or a laser) is
projected through rain, fog, or vapor:

  <http://www.c5forum.com/diy/fog_lamps/foglamp.jpg>

- with refracting objects, such as crystals, prisms, and lenses:

A lot of individuals around here not knowing what is going on. That's an
EM interaction. A resonance with the EM antenna embedded into your eyes.
Logically as well, you can't see something using that something seeing it.
Dr. HGW appears consistent. You do not.
