What that actually means is..

"I have always condemned the use of the atomic bomb against Japan but I could not do anything at all to prevent that fateful decision," Einstein wrote in German to Shinohara in a letter dated June 23, 1953.

on Japan 4 months before it happen

 The letter is dated: March 25, 1945 was about the considering of dropping
 the atomic bomb on Japan!
 
 and they dropped it August 6, 1945 on Japan!

Not a single document exist of Einstein condemning  the use of the atomic bomb against Japan

Now, all things aside...
Why was Albert Einstein telling the president of the united states
that plans were being made to bomb Japan????
Didn't the president know about this?

The reason was Einstein was afraid of losing Leo as a liaison.

A liaison is a person, communication channel, or relationship that
connects two or more groups to help them share information and work
together. 

    Intermediary Role: A person who acts as a go-between to organize and
assist communication between different teams, departments, or
organizations (such as a school liaison officer or a business project
connector). 


The Manhattan Project people hated Leo and was trying to get rid of him.
That would mean Einstein would
lose his info on whats going to at the manhattan project. 


Remember Einstei's plan in 1939:
