Compare that "Titan" with the Navy's DSV Alvin, made in the early
1960s!... It has made over 5000 dives to as deep as 4.5 km down the
oceans, including of course visiting the Titanic wreck. And it is still
going. Why? Because it was built by scientists, not "engineers." And it
is even named after a physicist.

The web says it has done so much research in the biology of deep oceans
that 2000 scientific papers have so far resulted from it.

It carries one pilot and two scientists. _Scientists_, not "engineers."
"Engineers" have no business being down there.

When compared to Titan, DSV Alvin provides the best analogy that can be
thought of for a comparison of scientists with "engineers."

We are weak, writing is difficult, but for my own sake I do not regret this journey, which has shown that Englishmen can endure hardships, help one another, and meet death with as great a fortitude as ever in the past. We took risks, we knew we took them; things have come out against us, and therefore we have no cause for complaint, but bow to the will of Providence, determined still to do our best to the last. But if we have been willing to give our lives to this enterprise, which is for the honour of our country, I appeal to our countrymen to see that those who depend on us are properly cared for.

Had we lived, I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance, and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman. These rough notes and our dead bodies must tell the tale, but surely, surely, a great rich country like ours will see that those who are dependent on us are properly provided for.

Since the 21st we have had a continuous gale from W.S.W. and S.W. We had fuel to make two cups of tea apiece and bare food for two days on the 20th. Every day we have been ready to start for our depot 11 miles away, but outside the door of the tent it remains a scene of whirling drift. I do not think we can hope for any better things now. We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker, of course, and the end cannot be far.

It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more.

R. SCOTT.

For God’s sake look after our people.

NASA did not build the craft. It was built here in Seattle by a small storefront operation up in Everett. Ocean Gate. Boeing is not commenting on any possible participation it may have had. I invite Ross and Legion (who may be Boeing) to join me on a fact finding mission to Everett on behalf of this forum.

They're all dead. No surprises there. The owner of the company would
likely be up on manslaughter charges, or whatever is the local
equivalent, except that he's dead too.

Most likely it happened so quickly that they never even knew they were
dying. At least Hollywood won't have fodder for another disaster movie.

Sylvia.

It's true that Hollywood will ignore any laws of physics[*] that get in
the way of the plot.

Still, I have hope that rich people paying absurd amounts to do stupidly
dangerous things and then dying as a result, will not attract any
production money.

Sylvia.

[*] Actually, anything at all, which is why, for example, the control
circuitry for electronic locks is always on the outside where a decent
hammer is all that is needed to affect entry (don't even need the magic
decoding boxes that Hollywood tends to use).

It seems the CEO was simply lying about the extent of NASA's involvement.

NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center had a Space Act Agreement with OceanGate and consulted on materials and manufacturing processes for the submersible.
For the safety of our team members during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as limited resources and availability, NASA Marshall engineers only participated remotely
in technical interchange meetings, providing consultation for materials and manufacturing processes based on industry standards.

blame it on the chink virus!

To put it simply...NASA FUCKED UP AGAIN!

Ask any teacher if they will in one built by NASA...

Every time NASA sends something up in the sky...people close their eyes and ears and scream..."IT'S GOING TO FUCKING EXPLODE!!!!"

Why would anybody get into anything built by NASA? YOU THINK THEY GIVE A FUCK IF YOU DIE?????

Who's idea was it to use a gamepad joystick to Navigate dat sub???? WHO????

NASA...it couldn't be anybody else.

Only NASA thinks of things like that!

Here is the video of the guy with the toy controller in his hand inside

The real question is who will be the first liberal congresscritter to
stick his/her fat nose into this and demand regulation?

The website https://oceangateexpeditions.com/#traveltour-top-anchor seems to indict Boeing, NASA, and the University of Washington as co-conspirators in this disaster. The Titan. Even its' name is contained in the Titanic. The two vessels shall lay together for evermore, the Titanic and the Titan. The last victims of the Titanic. All the pathos from 1915 is flooding back. The Titan was supposedly unsinkable too. First class passengers, steerage, even the vessel's designer, all perished. Many parallels. The Titanic must never be visited again!

How wrong can any one person be about so many different things?
