You are. When you travel eastward, your speed through space is added to the speed of the earth on its axis at that point. Since I am not moving relative to the earth, my speed is the same as the earth spinning on its axis. If you were traveling westward, your speed would be subtracted from the speed of the earth on its axis, and I would be moving faster because I would be moving at the same speed as the earth as it spins. If we had atomic clocks with us, it would be a miniature version of Hafele-Keating. Ed

If I am stationary relative to the earth, I am moving at the same speed as the earth at that point. If you are moving eastward, your speed is ADDED TO to the rotating speed of the earth. So, you are moving faster than me. And that is true regardless of how the sun moves or how the Milky Way moves. You will ALWAYS be moving faster than me. That is because speed in Relativity (and in our universe) is not measured relative to some arbitrary moving body, it is measured relative to the speed of light, the speed at which time stops. And any point in space where time ticks at its fastest rate can be considered "stationary." It does not have to be one single point, like the point where the Big Bang occurred. It can also be any point that is "stationary" relative to that point. There are an infinite number of "stationary" points in the universe. You are moving at a speed that is closer to the speed of light than my speed. That can be confirmed by comparing how much slower time passes for you than for me. It doesn't make any difference how fast or slow anything else is moving. You will still be moving faster than me. Period. Ed

No, I am NOT saying that "true speeds are defined in terms of the rest frame of the Big Bang." I am saying that true speeds are defined in terms of their relationship to THE SPEED OF LIGHT. Everything moves at a (typically small) percentage of the speed of light. In theory, the point of the Big Bang is where time ticks at its fastest rate, and therefore it can be considered "stationary," since everything moves faster than that point. HOWEVER, in there can be one such point, there can be an INFINITE number of points in the universe that are "stationary" relative to the point where the Big Bang occurred. All movement is relative to ALL those points. Thus, it is invalid to say that "the slower person is the one moving in the direction opposite the direction of the constellation Leo." There is no direction to velocity when it is related to the speed of light. A mathematician can compute a speed relative to some object, but that is just the speed relative to that object. When comparing the readings of a moving clock with the reading of a stationary
clock, you have the problem that the moving clock only stays colocated with
the stationary clock for a very short period of time. Just imagine a clock
moving at 0.6c, that is 180,000 km/sec. In 1 milisecond the clock moves 180 km!!
So, for making a valid reading you need to set up several Einstein synchronized
clocks along the path the moving clock follows, like the diagram below:
Moving to the right Clocks Ai
(A1)....(A2)....(A3)....(A4)....(A5)....(A6) --> v=0.6c
(B1)....(B2)....(B3)....(B4)....(B5)....(B6)
Stationary Synchronized clocks Bi
So, in the very short period of time when clock A1 is colocated with everyone of
the clocks Bi, the clocks Bi can observe the succesive readings of clock A1, as
it passes by the Bi clock.
At the end of the experiment, the collected data from all the clocks Bi will
indicate the succesive measured readings of clock A1 were slower than the
readings of the synchronized clocks Bi.
The second part is measuring all this from the point of view of the clock A1.
For the clock A1, all the clocks Bi are moving to the left also at 0.6c, and
the measuring problem is the same, ie, the clocks Bi do not stay by the location
of clock A enough to measure a set of readings.
The solution is to, again, set up several Einstein synchronized clocks in the
clock A frame of reference, like the figure below:

Your argument is just mathematical gibberish to me. I can't figure out what you are trying to accomplish. It certainly has nothing to do with Einstein's theories. At it still looks like reciprocal motion. The clock that moves the fastest relative to the speed of light is the clock that ticks the slowest. Period. Ed
