First question: what is a galaxy?

A galaxy is a certain cluster of stars and a star is a tiny bright spot, 
we see in the (night-)sky.

These stars are in a way similar to our own sun, but much dimmer and 
smaller (in our view).

Now the question:  why do we see tiny bright spots in the night sky in a 
formation like the milky way?

Answer: the geometry of the celestial objects is based on the concept of 
empty space, through which material objects float, bound by gravity.

But the form of galaxies shows us, this concept is wrong.

So a galaxy is NOT a cluster of stars, which float through empty space 
and are bound by gravity.

So in reality we have a certain impression from an underlying reality, 
which we perceive in the way we see the universe.

What this something actually is, that is a question under debate.

Standard cosmology tries to maintain the (wrong) assumption of zillions 
of suns floating through vacuum and are bound by gravity.

To fill the gaps between theory and observations, they throw in 
'assumptions', which all violate common logic: inflation, dark 
energy/matter, black holes and a few other.

I personally prefer a different view, which is based on general 
relativity and 'spacetime' as somehow real and what we see from a 
certain angle.

The change of the angle, what is mainly the direction of the axis of 
time, we could make things glow and emit light.

This spacetime has the form of a gigantic fractal, which is organised in 
steps of different size and strength of relations. The larger structures 
are what we see in the sky. This has substructure and that is, what we 
call 'stars'. Clusters of these stars belong to certain 'time domains', 
and that could have an angle to our timeline.

We could see the timeline of such a cluster as pointing away from us and 
that is what gives the impression of a black hole, around which stars 
rotate.
