"subsurface ocean on Europa." Better than saying "underground ocean"... subsurface ocean sounds like it's on the... 'surface'. There are people in NASA whose only job probably is coming up with new con werds. "underground" sounds underhanded. Subsurface 'sounds' like it's on the surface, Right? It's water, an ocean on the subSurface! Right on top, right!!? It's shooting sky high! and you girls fall for this stuff....everyday.
