#3-9 Many examples and exercises in using Algebraic Logic // Teaching True Mathematics

Alright, I am going to need a lesson on just the use of Logic in language and how the student can use logic to think better and more clearly. Remember, that we do not use math everyday of our lives but we do have to think everyday of our lives and so thinking clearly --- logic ---- is more important to know than is math. Many lessons in using Logic in language and thinking. And I hope the schools across the world will coordinate these logic lessons with their language lessons, such as here in the USA, coordinate these lessons with teaching of English in Grade School even High School.

These following lessons are going to be long lessons and I ask for the teachers in schools across the world to use this lesson of logical fallacies with the English class (or whatever language your country speaks) to teach logical fallacies in English class. For of primary importance is the student be able to think straight and clear and logical, for it is little use to teach a student language and math if they cannot think straight or clear in the first place. Why teach a student percentage, yet the student goes off and borrows money where he can do the percentage correctly, but never learned or was taught that he should not be borrowing in the first place.

Alright, in life, while doing science and physics and mathematics, I have found the greatest hole in knowledge and understanding of the world around us, is a lack of ability to think straight and to think clearly. Logic is the subject that is focused on thinking straight and thinking clearly. Math needs logic, but logic does not need math.

A massive editing of this lesson, for Euler's FLT is not appropriate for 14 year olds, perhaps early college logic.

NON SEQUITUR

Most common Logic fallacy is Non Sequitur--2nd most common-- Ad Hominem. All Ad Hominem arguments are Non Sequitur, but not all Non Sequitur arguments are containing ad hominems.

NON SEQUITUR-- it means "it does not follow"

Alright amazed in that Copi in his book Introduction to Logic does not include the Non Sequitur fallacy. Was looking for examples, and found some in Wikipedia under Formal Fallacy

1) "Some of your key evidence is missing, incomplete, or even faked! That proves I'm right!"

2) "The vet can't find any reasonable explanation for why my dog died. See! See! That proves that you poisoned him!"

3) Life is life and fun is fun, but it's all so quiet when the goldfish die.
(source: Wikipedia)

Now we learned the If-->then

zzzzzzz

So let us apply that to the above three examples in Wikipedia:

1) If, if some of your key evidence is then missing, incomplete or even faked, then, that proves, I'm right.

2) If, if the vet can't find any reasonable explanation for why my dog died, then, that be the case, that proves that you, then poisoned him.

3) If, if life is life and fun is fun, then it's all so quiet, then the goldfish dies.

So in all three examples above the final "then...." do not really follow from the
If... if-->then...then, that final then does not follow from prior If..if-->then

Most of living life is doing logic, in the mind and in everyday conversation, in our actions and reactions and what we do every moment of the day is either the use of Good Logic or fallacy. This is why it is more important to teach students how to think straight and clear than to be teaching them how to do mathematics. Math needs logic, but logic does not need math.

So, to finish off Grade School mathematics, it is very important that we teach students not just details of numbers and geometry but teach students how to think straight, think clearly, think logically, even more important than just teaching mathematics. For logic is bigger than mathematics. And the reason Euler's 1770 flub of FLT was never recognized until 2016 as a error, is because people in mathematics never learned what Logic is all about.

Here in this textbook we teach Logic along with mathematics, for it is more important that every day we think clearly and think straight than it is for the few times you need to think mathematically.
Every thought of every day should be logical thoughts and only rarely do you need in a day to think mathematically.

The below examples are from Copi, Introduction to Logic, 1972. However, most logic textbooks are old decayed logic, riddled with mistakes all over the place, and their fallacy section is usually poor in quality, but the teacher is free to go through Old Logic for examples to use in class, whether math class or English language class (and for foreign countries-- whatever their language is)

If Socrates is a man then Socrates is mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Therefore Socrates is mortal.

All men are mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Therefore Socrates is mortal

All cows are mammals and have lungs.
All horses are mammals and have lungs.
All men are mammals and have lungs.
Therefore probably all mammals have lungs.

So I ask the teacher to go to various books to find logic examples of fallacies.

Now the world's most often used fallacy of argument is probably the Non Sequitur as shown above of the If, if--then, -- then. Non Sequitur means -- does not follow.

Probably the world's second most used fallacy is Ad Hominem, meaning, attack of the person. Where you make no reasoned argument, you only attack verbally your opponent.

But now, let us press on with many Logical fallacy arguments in mathematics. It is good to end the year for the 14 year old with what he can expect to see as Fallacies of mathematics.

Here are some fallacies of math I picked up from the Internet over the years.

Major Math fallacies

1) Ellipse is a cylinder section (cut) never a conic section

2) Sine and Cosine are not sinusoid waves, but a semicircle wave because in unit circle the value of 90 degrees is 1, meaning, the value of 180 degrees is not 3.14... but is rather instead a value of 2. In math-- it is a fallacy to think you can stretch the x-axis from being a value of 2, to a value of 3.14.... and not ruin the true wave of sine.

3) It is a fallacy of math, to think you can define finite and define infinity, and not have a borderline between them, to tell you if a number is finite or infinite.

Lesson 3-11 Ad Hominem

AD HOMINEM--it means "to the person" or "attack the person"

Generally every person in the world knows when they heard another person attacking someone. We hear voices raised and reasoning gone. We hear fight. But words on a computer or in writing we hear nothing and we see just words, but it is easy to tell if the discussion is attack, or if it is reasoned discussion.

Here is an example from the Internet in sci.math of Ad Hominem of a writer who hates the person he is talking to, and no matter what the topic is, the message is always the same-- I hate your guts.

Here is another example of Ad Hominem that is openly hostile

A immediate clue that a person with a discussion is Ad Hominem is the use of swear words or calling you a name, or slur. In the 1990s when I posted to the science newsgroups with my legal name as Archimedes Plutonium, I did not mind seeing Archie, people calling me AP or Archie. But then, when someone would say Arky, immediately that places that person as hostile ad hominem, and have no further dealings with him.

But Ad Hominem can be just as bad without swear words, as this example shows. And why in logic, the Ad Hominem fallacy used by someone for long periods of time is in need of a psychiatrist and that Ad Hominem frequent use by a person belongs more in psychology and mental disease than it is a topic of logic or math. Stalkers are persons who just cannot leave alone someone else who they focus to attack, and thus, stalkers are insane people.

If you never seen a Dan post before, and for the first time you see a Dan post, you would not be thinking, perhaps, this is a stalker ad hominem, insane bully. It has no swear words. But once you see that Dan repeats and repeats the same thing over and over, each sentence oozing in hatred of the person he is addressing.

In the science newsgroups are two concepts often used-- "crank" and "crackpot". Crank means your repeat something over and over that gets on the nerves of others, and usually, they crank false ideas, sometimes a crank can crank true ideas, it is just that they have some screws loose in their brain, and want to repeat. And crackpot means, crazy ideas, instantly wrong for they are anti-science ideas and never use the "scientific method". Now, you couple those two concepts, crank and crackpot and couple them with stalking, so you have (1) crank (2) crackpot (3) stalker and you have a huge bundle of psychology disease of insanity. Psychology is a science, but cranks, crackpots and stalkers are subjects for the study of diseased minds.

Here is another Ad Hominem, toned down, but still hatred, not reasoning, not math, not science. There is an English term for this sort of ad hominem, called "needling someone". They do not care about science or understanding, all they want to do is harass someone. They get their rocks off when they needle someone during the day. They are also mentally sick people.

So, now, it is easy for 14 year olds to know when someone is doing Ad Hominem, easy because it feels like fighting and not about seeking knowledge and understanding. It feels like "attack", and curse words are a big clue that it is ad hominem, not discussion, not debate, no learning.

Now it is easy for students of 14 years old to figure out if a reply is ad hominem or not, and so I will spend no further time with Ad Hominem except to tell the student how to best deal with Ad Hominem if it happens to you. So much of school learning is to tell you what something "is" but never tell you how to deal with it. The best way to deal with ad hominem if it happens to you, --live face to face-- is simply walk away. I remember a laughable walk away of the music group Bee Gees who walked out of a Clive Anderson interview with ad hominem.

Quoting from internet:

“By the halfway point, Barry is visibly annoyed by Anderson's inanities. The straw that breaks the camel's back is apparently Anderson's reaction to the news that the brothers once called themselves “Les Tossers”—when Barry gets up to leave a few minutes later, he takes a moment to call Anderson a “tosser” too.Nov 4, 2013

Admirably handled, for when another person is "attacking you", simply just walk away. Warning-- dear 14 year olds and older-- do not walk away from you parents-- thinking they are ad hominem you, this advice on my part is people not in your family. But if the attacker physically attacks you, well, you have to engage for that is what the attacker wants in the first place-- fight. Now if the ad hominem is not face to face, but like so much conversation on the Internet, these days, where you never see the attacker ad hominem person, here again, walk away or ignore. I did that to two stalkers of more than 20 years worth of their attacks. This I did with the above who attacked for 26 years, and finally in the last years I, decided to use the attacker. By using, you crowd the attacker Ad Hominem, crowd him with good normal people, surround him with good normal people, people that may see him face to face, wherever he lives and is posting his attack messages, and then there is the chance that some good normal person will stop his bad ugly stalking behavior. There is never a chance that you can stop him, for he is insane, you cannot reason with insane people, especially after doing it for 26 years. You cannot reason with him/them, for what they want is you to leave, to drive you out, and he attacks you every day. The subject is immaterial, for it can be math, or science or politics or cooking or gardening, it matters not, his only desire is for you to be driven out or kicked out. The moment you see someone ad hominem you, there is no point in responding to him, for his goal is not understanding or knowledge, his goal is only one thing-- you beaten up and kicked out. In English we have a word for a person like this, who does mostly just Ad Hominem-- it is "bully". And some people are just insane bullies all their life long. What stops the bully is usually they get into one fight too many and end up in prison jail.

So, first advice if you do not want to fight, is walk away, which is the most prudent, if I can do it for 20 years, you can do it, and after 20 years it will have gone away by itself. You, see, the case with bully stalkers is that their bad behavior, their ad hominem, is not limited to you, but the bully does it to others and it is only a matter of time in which the bully meets up with someone that pommels him or law enforcement gets the bully.

The second advice if the bully continues and continues is to crowd him around good people, keep surrounding the insane bully with good people, and then one of those good people will see the ugly bully and usher him away.

Lesson 3-13 Occam's Razor

Yes, this is going to be a long, very long lesson and here we teach Occam's Razor to 14 year olds for Occam's Razor is a very important technique of Logic, to know what is likely true, but also to know it is not necessarily true.

Totally totally bizarre day.

Could not connect iphone to computer, for it showed a Disconnect-- which happened about a month ago and found out I had to go into town to a wifi and download security update.

So I thought I had to download the latest iOS11.3.1

So there I was in town at McDonalds to get wifi

But the download never succeeded.

Finally had to call and find out that if I plug my iphone directly into the computer-- that all is well.

So is that the magic?

And there for a moment I thought the Russians were sick and tired of reading and listening to AP posts admonishing the US and EU and UK join as one supernation.

Or the Chinese got fed up with AP posts admonishing for a total ban on all Chinese exports.

And so, they attack AP, but, what saves AP is plug the cord from iphone to computer, and all the bad guys are locked out.

So, honestly, I do not know if hackers are trying to destroy AP's access to the newsgroups, because just recently some hackers tried to make my iphone button to turn the phone on-- make me have to press, press press yet it never turned on. And then Apple fixed it remotely.

I long for the bygone era where I bought a computer and never updated anything, letting it go for years without updates, all because I wanted to Post OUT, and anything incoming was more of a threat, than any good. But the computer industry wants connected connected connected. Me, with my messages, I only want -- transmission outward, to teach the masses, and I do not want them -- infiltrating in for they mean only harm. I want to post out, and not be connected to nerds and stalkers trying to get in and plant viruses.

So the good old days are gone and every month, perhaps, everyone with Apple computers has to make way for some update on security, that lays your computer rather low.

Please Apple, design some software for people who just want to look outwards, post outwards, and that computer with the switch turned off-- does not allow anyone, anypersons, any government to connect inwards to that computer. Have a button that if ON, means you want two way connectivity, and if OFF, means the owner wants no-one able to infiltrate his computer, yet he can post outwards and look and surf outwards. No inward stream.

So, what happened today? Was the iphone security update by Apple iOS11.3.1, was that a complete sheer fakery? Because, well, if Apple had a update, my phone is always on, so why in the world would not Apple simply install the new version of security directly into the iphone.

Was it a hacker fake update, that would disconnect my iphone from the hotspot to computer.

Making me run into town to a wifi.

Or is it that Apple and AT&T are not coordinated in changes in their software.

Or is it a hacker that applies a wifi that interfers with phone numbers and connections. And thus, the reason that my computer now works being directly plugged into the iphone.

Or, is AP a test model case for computer companies to see if they can try out their new fangled diddly do. Because they know AP will be posting immediately if messed with. Sort of where they get the expression "don't F--- with me"

Is there a law against people disconnecting other peoples computer

So, what is this form of hacking or ruining someone elses computer where your hotspot to connect shows up with a line below saying "Disconnect from iphone"

Is it a wifi connection

And how is a cord plug in the means and way to getting around the "disconnect"

So now really i have to ask— is there someone inside Apple, a employee of Apple that is pestering Archimedes Plutonium

First by making the bezel button almost impossible to turn on the iphone

Then running a Disconnect iphone to my hotspot and showing a fake update of iOS 11.3.1

I mean Occam’ Razor—the most simple of explanations is -often- not necessarily but most often the true explanation

In this case— a employee of Apple harrassing AP

How else do i explain an update that does not exist

Yes, I am going to use this as a example of Occam's Razor in the book Teaching True Mathematics.

In the news recently is where a Court said Trump illegally blocked other persons from Twitter in replying to Trump's tweets. The court ruled freedom of speech, and you cannot block like that.

So, I have been critical of Trump ever since elected, and could my "disconnect from iphone" be a Trump call where he instructs some government agency-- "block that Archimedes Plutonium"

Occam's Razor is a beautiful tool of Logic, but realize, it is not a proof tool.

So, student, which is "the most simple explanation" for why AP could not access the internet on May25, 2018 because my iphone could not connect? Is it someone in Apple, or is the most simple explanation that Trump's government blocked AP?

Occam's Razor is used most often in helping to solve murder cases or criminal cases. And one of the most often pieces of evidence is a Occam's Razor evidence-- who was the victim seen by-- last. The criminal is most often the last person the victim was with, not necessarily the criminal but in most cases, the criminal. That is why the police want to find out who was the last person to see the victim.

So, students, here we have a confession of sorts from a howler monkey "alouatta coibensis" living in Amsterdam, swinging from tree to tree from California to Dutch Netherlands, and disrupting the telephone connections of Archimedes Plutonium. Of course, students, I am joking here, for everything on the Internet has to be taken with a grain of salt, that you have to verify, verify and verify, whenever some lone person says something.

Occam's Razor is a great tool, especially for police in solving cases.

What is Occam's Razor? It is the most simple of all explanations-- is usually the true explanation of what happened.

In my case of being disconnected from the Internet on 25May, 2018, the most simple explanation is that my iphone is Apple, my computer is Apple, my connection company is AT&T, and I am a critic of Russia, of China and the Trump administration. Which of these would be the most simple explanation for why my computer was disconnected?

1) Apple
2) AT&T
3) Russia hacks
4) China hacks
5) Trump (USA) hacks

Which is the most simple explanation?

I would say Apple, because it has my iphone and my computer.

And, it was AT&T that helped me on 25May by telling me that if I Plugged-In a cord directly from iphone to computer, I bypass the interfering hackers altogether.

So, student, the most simple explanation is -- Apple did it to me-- pestered me.

#3-14 Many examples and exercises in using Geometry Logic // Teaching True Mathematics

My pictures below turned out quite nicely on the internet format.

Here I need mostly examples and exercises in set theory, for all of set theory is Geometry Logic. But I need exercises that are in common everyday living.

We do Venn diagrams, only the diagrams here will be different from the diagrams seen on the Internet or in books.

What is the Set Difference of B - C, of C - B, B - A, of C - A

Alright, now, we are going to spend quite some time on both Union and Set Difference for there is a major error of Old Math and Old Logic concerning the Set Difference, the subtraction operator in sets. And this major flaw is so pervasive in Old Math that even a famous fake-math-proof is caught committing this error. An error of soft-of-mind. The famous fake proof is called 4 Color Mapping and have the 14 year old look it up in Wikipedia for it involves a lot of pictures which I cannot write in this post. And it involves a famous fake proof by Appel & Haken for they used a computer to do a math proof which is why it is famous, the first of its kind-- a computer to prove. But it is fake for many reasons, one of them for Set Difference, since Appel & Haken thought you can peel away the borderlines or boundaries and not affect the problem.

So, students, what we are going to do is take these Sets A, B, C

_____________
| A |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | __ |__|____
| | | | | |
|__ |___ |__ |__| |
      | | | |
      | |__ |___C__|
      |_B____ |

And plot them into the 10 Grid where A could be the square that is from (0, 7.5) (7.5,7.5) (0, 15), (7.5,15) and the set B is a rectangle that is (2,0) (5.5,0) (2,11) (5.5,11).

Now, what is the Set Difference of A - B ?

We did it by the picture

_____________
| A - B |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
|__ | |__|

But we did not do it actually by the Graph with numbers and a huge problem occurs and is what makes the Appel & Haken proof a fake proof (along with many many other errors)

You see, when you subtract the rectangle (2,0) (5.5,0) (2,11) (5.5,11) from the square (0, 7.5) (7.5,7.5) (0, 15), (7.5,15) Remember, in mathematics the Grid systems are discrete, meaning there are gaps and holes between numbers. So when we subtract the rectangle, we lose the 2 in (2,0) and what stands remaining is the 1.9, and we lose the 5.5 in (5.5, 0) and what stands remaining is 5.4 in 10 Grid.

In Old Math, they thought you could just simply remove the borders of geometric figures and it would make no difference at all in any problems being solved. Turns out, when geometry is discrete, by eliminating the borders of any geometry figure, drastically changes the entire problem worked on. This is one of the reason's Appel & Haken's 4 Color Mapping is a fake proof. Yet math professors the world over adore this fakery, only because, when they went to school, they never learned logic on how to think straight, think clear, and that is why this textbook realizes that students need to learn Logic even more important than mathematics.

Now let us move on to set Intersection with our three sets of A,B,C

_____________
| A |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | __ |__|____
| | | | | |
|__ |___ |__ |__| |
      | | | |
      | |__ |___C__|
      |_B____ |

Now let me mark some points with a u, v, w, x, y, z, marker.

_____________
| A |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | _ x|_y|____
| | | | | |
|_u |__ v|_ w|__| |
      | | | |
      | |_ z|___C__|
      |_B____ |

Intersection in set theory or Geometry Logic is denoted by upside down U, but we have no such symbol. So I am just going to write "intersect".

So A intersect B is u, and w.

What is A intersect C ?

What is B intersect C ?

Now that was intersection for A as square without its interior and B as rectangle without its interior
and C as rectangle without its interior. But now let us do intersection with the full figure as its borderlines and interior.

_____________
| A |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | __ |__|____
| | | | | |
|__ |___ |__ |__| |
      | | | |
      | |__ |___C__|
      |_B____ |

A intersect B is

      _______
      | |
      | |
      | |
      |___ __ |

_____________
| A |
| _______ |
| | | |
| | __ |__|____
| | | | | |
|__ |___ |__ |__| |
      | | | |
      | |__ |___C__|
      |_B____ |

What is B intersect C
What is C intersect B
What is B intersect A

Students, notice in math that when you have A intersect B the same as B intersect A it is called commutative. Is Union a commutative property? That is, is A U B the same as B U A ? Is set difference commutative? That is, is A - B, the same as B - A ?

What is A intersect C

Now we move onto Cardinality (Existence quantifier).

Cardinality of a set is the number of graph points in a figure of the graph.

Get a graph paper with the x-axis integers out to 30 and the y-axis, integers out to 30.

Now, plot these squares

square A = (0,0) (1,0) (1,1) (0,1)

square B = (1,0) (3,0) (3,2) (1,2)

square C = (3,0) (6,0) (6,3) (3,3)

point D = (0,0)

Now, how many graph points exist in total in set D ? There is just one graph point {(0,0)}, remember our mark of set is { }, so we say set D has cardinality of 1.

How many graph points exist in set square A ? There is { (0,0) (1,0) (1,1) (0,1) } so our cardinality is 4.

How many graph points exist in set square B ? There is {(1,0) (3,0) (3,2) (1,2), (1,1), (2,1), (2,2), (3,1), (2,2) } there are 9 points and thus a cardinality of 9.

What is the cardinality of set C ?

Teacher, prepare for other figures such as a rectangle E = (2,0) (6,0) (6,10) (2,10) and many other figures and ask the students to work out the cardinality. Even do a circle.

Now we move on to Cartesian Product (Universal quantifier) renamed to Cartesian Universal Function using the 10 Grid with integers only so the x-axis is out to 10 integers only and the y-axis out to 10.

Now, have the students list all the graph points starting with (0,0) (1,0), (2,0), ....

Once they are done, ask them what the cardinality of Cartesian Product was ?

#3-15 Cartesian Product, and Toto Space Product Geometry Logic // Teaching True Mathematics

#3-16 Logic is more important than is mathematics // Teaching True Mathematics

Every moment of your life, has to be where you think straight, think clear, think correctly. Whereas, only a few moments out of your life, do you have to think mathematically.

I have asked that the teaching of mathematics be coordinated with English class or whatever foreign country language class. So that we teach logic and fallacies of logic along with teaching English-- noun, verb, direct object, prepositions, composition, writing, essay, reading, reading books, etc. Much of these lessons for 14 year olds, I would like to see coordinated with the English teacher teaching language and grammar and reading.
