"potpurri" should be written "pot pourri" by the way, as it is a French expression which has been taken "as is" in English. Nevertheless, I got the idea of this theorem of yours, but I do think it is still ill-specified. You should try to write it down rigorously. Even so, my guess is that it will be wrong Whatever, it is HIGHLY irrelevant on a discussion on commuting lim and length, even in the specific cases (staircases and sinusoids) we were talking about.

So far so good. In this case at least.

What the hell about Peter or Paul didn't accept the stair
case as a fractal?! It is simply NOT a fractal. What
silly words are that??

No way. I've told you why.

A theorem? What theorem would be that? Based on abuse
of notation and considering only specific cases while
it doesn't work in the general case? This is mueckenheimization.

Ok, here is a first bugfix: If f_1>=f_2>=...
we need glb not lub, so its:
lim n->oo f_n = glb { f_n }
Now its pretty trivial to see:
glb { f_n } = glb { u | u subset U graph(f_n), u functional }

Proof is really trival, we only need to
show for
f1 = glb { f_n }
f2 = glb { u | u subset U graph(f_n), u functional }
That f1=f2. We can do this pointwise. So we
only need to show f1(x)=f2(x) for all x.
But trivially, the way u =<_2 v works:
f1(x) = glb { f_n(x) }
f2(x) = glb { u(x) | u subset U graph(f_n), u functional }
But now each u(x) cannot take other values than from
among f_n(x), so we are done. Its the glb of the same
points, hence f1(x)=f2(x) indeed.

Well the story is going more on more convoluted, from
lub to a restricted lub on one coordinate, not it's a mix
of a lub and a glb...
I wasn't that bad in guessing it was quite badly engaged
at first sight, was I?
And at the end it is now supposed to be a trivial proof...
I stay on my case:
- this is irrelevant given the context of the initial problem
- this is MEANINGLESS concerning the issue of lim length =/= length lim

Well the proof idea is trivial. This doesn't mean its easy to do fully formally. I don't know what would be needed, axiom of choice, who knows what. Ok, lets give it a try, to see whether the idea is both trivial in its conceptial content and as well in its practical execution. We only need to proof the follow rest. This is something which was not yet completely done: y=u(x) => exists n f_n(x)=y https://groups.google.com/d/msg/sci.math/uKj8GM0uRZU/HfY5iG7tBAAJ The u is from the graph union, so letzt drop the graph(..), just recap what the definition was of the 2D fractal and taking the glb there: u subset U f_n and u functional It has to be read all set theorectically, so u subset U f_n means that the setlike function u should be subset of U f_n, each f_n also being setlike, and U f_n their infinite union. Lets recap, what the setlike means: u = some set of pairs <x,y>, u : R -> R each f_n = some set of pairs <x,y>, each f_n : R -> R So lets start and unfold the set theory definitions: u subset U f_n means forall (<x,y> in u => <x,y> in U f_n) See last line in this section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subset#Definitions <x,y> in U f_n means exists n (<x,y> in f_n) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axiom_of_union#Formal_statement So we are almost done, we need only to check, what happens with a pair <x,u(x)>. We get exists n, <x,u(x)> in f_n. But this means f_n(x)=y. Q.E.D. Python, if you wouldn't have fallend into rant modus, you could have done this yourself. But sometimes you turn into a foul bastard. A really stinky rotten foul bastard, I must admit. And the good thing about it is, every thing is documented on the internet. Ha Ha Am Freitag, 9. You wont find my saying I am the greatest mathe- matician or some nonsense, like bird brain JG all the time does. So if this is your intention to provoke me into this direction. On the other hand also don't expect me to don't get nevertheles some backfire towards when you do provoke. You can count the number of posts where you made remarks about I dunno what Mueckenheimization, be quite, your sorry, ... Thats just faul mouth pussy stuff, boring super-idiot remarks. I recommend you to wear a pink tutu and run around. Maybe this is the real satisfaction you need, than only demonstrate bad math, especially towards spontaneaus math, that is not found on wiki. Well... Jan. If you once take the time to read again the whole thread, quietly, where you've added and piled up and up more and more convolutions upon a single claim of yours because I just wrote down that it didn't make much sense and was irrelevant in the first place, I am quite sure you will be the first one to feel sorry about all that nonsense. This is a pity, as you usually produce good posts. As I said you think slower than you post. And you post too fast. So even if you think well you post badly. bursejan@gmail.com wrote: > Nobody cares about your opinion on my mind. > Especially when it comes from a foul rotten > mouth like yours. bursejan@gmail.com wrote: > And lub along the y-axis of U graph(f_n) > gives the straight line f(x)=0. > > Thats all pretty trivial stuff. Well, "lub along the y-axis" is, at best, very very sloppy words. You'd better have considered the adherence of this set, it would have made sense. But not much in order to state that the limit of the sequence of curve is actually the horizontal segment. The adherence of the union of a sequence of graphs is NOT necessarily the limit of the sequence. Moreover, confusing currying (which is rewriting a multivariate function as a function from several variables to a function from one variable giving out a function) with "removing one element of a tuple" really make me feel embarrassed for you. I've always noticed that you post more quickly than you think. I do love that this kind of problems lead to a lot of interesting side ideas. Nevertheless the point was about lim length =/= length lim, all all that fuss about fractals is a smoke screen *here*.

Fwiw, here is a triangle wave fractal wrapped around the unit circle. My
code C++ for this is:
______________________
// Project to half disk
ct_complex ct_project(
ct_complex z
) {
ct_complex I = { 0, -1.0 };
ct_complex w = { -(I + z) / (I - z) };
return w;
}
// Fractal Parametric Wave Plotter
void ct_fwave_mpara(
ct::plot2d& plot,
unsigned int n,
ct_complex p0,
ct_complex p1,
unsigned int nr
) {
ct_complex dif = p1 - p0;
// Build the Fractal wave
ct_float abase = 1.0 / n;
ct_float abase_wave = 2.0 * 1 / n;
for (unsigned int i = 0; i < n; i++)
{
ct_float angle = abase * i;
ct_float angle_wave = abase_wave * i * nr;
ct_float y_temp = (angle_wave - floor(angle_wave + .5)) * 1.0 /
nr + (p0.imag() + (dif.imag() * angle));
// Fractal Wave High
ct_complex wp0 = {
p0.real() + (dif.real() * angle),
y_temp
};
// Fractal Wave Low
ct_complex wp1 = {
p0.real() + (dif.real() * angle),
-y_temp
};
plot.set_pixelf(ct_project(wp0), CT_RGBF(1., 1., 0.));
plot.set_pixelf(ct_project(wp1), CT_RGBF(0., 1., 1.));
plot.set_pixelf(-ct_project(wp0), CT_RGBF(1., 1., 0.));
plot.set_pixelf(-ct_project(wp1), CT_RGBF(0., 1., 1.));
}
}
// Fractal Parametric Wave Function
void ct_fwave(
ct::plot2d& plot,
unsigned int n,
ct_complex p0,
ct_complex p1,
unsigned int nr
) {
// For every level
for (unsigned int recur_i = 0; recur_i < n; ++recur_i)
{
// Plot the wave
ct_fwave_mpara(plot, 20072, p0, p1, nr);
// Compute next wave
nr = nr * (recur_i + 2);

Nice picture it has some artful qualities can not help notice it share angles and similarity "visually" with the elements within the mayan calendar but the order is different.

Well it certainly has an aestethic coming right out of Aztech culture.

Maybe it is a strawman aestethic who knows...
