The energy requirements alone for accomplishing this would mean a huge increase in the consumption of fossil fuels which is why the energy companies love the idea because even though it makes the problem much worse it does make them richer.

My opinion is the same as yours. Most of these things to supposedly prevent global warming consume more resources than those they save.
