Certainly! Nothing happened at all, right? I'm sure all the
"progressives" agree.

Well, there was nothing on the BBC about it, so of course nothing
involving mad axe attackers of unknown ethnic origin happened.
We can all sleep soundly again.

Former Yugoslavia is pretty unspecific. He could have been a Slovenian, a Serb, a Croat, a Herzgovinian, a Macedonian or an Albanian. The Croats were mostly Catholic, the Serbs and Macedonians, Greek Orthodox, and the Albanians Muslims, not that any of the Yugoslavs I ran into in Australia and the Netherlands seems to take religion all that seriously.

The ethnic origins of somebody who is far enough off his head to lay into total strangers with an axe aren't all that interesting, except to people like Cursitor Doom and Julian Barnes.

Had the lad no passport? Has the police not checked? Germany is one of
those countries where everyone must carry the ausweiss at all times.

But, after more than 20 years of reporting news of the "events" in the
Balkans, one ought to be able to see through this reporting code:

If there is possibly any ever the smallest tiniest most contorted
imaginary probability of blaming the Serbs for any bad deed at all, then
this would have been reported as : a Serb attack. If it cannot, then a
way must be found to make it inclusive of Serbs, e.g. by saying Former
Yugoslavia.

BTW, the attacker is an Albanian Muslim from the NATO protectorate of
Kosovo.

"German police said the suspect is a 36-year-old man from former
Ygoslavia, and he apparently suffers from mental health issues."

We all have our crazies. No country is immune to lunatics. Canada and
the US have had our share too, both domestic and immigrant.

 From Wikipedia:

"Immigration and crime refers to perceived or actual relationships
between crime and immigration. The academic literature provides mixed
findings for the relationship between immigration and crime worldwide,
but finds for the United States that immigration either has no impact on
the crime rate or that it reduces the crime rate"

Not that I believe everything on Wikipedia, but it is a good start, for
one thing it isn't beholding to its advertisers!

That, at least, can't be bad.

But nowhere in the world anyone is safe from mentally ill people.
What about Charles Manson and his "family"?

Exactly. What about them? The thing is, the Manson case is really not
that unusual in California. It's a very violent state with a lot of crazy
people living in it. The worst of the worst things happen there. That's
the distinction that counts, because no one wants to see respectable,
normal countries like Germany, Sweden, etc, etc, become like California.
And I think the worry is, given the fact that Europe is being swamped by
Muslims with a very different cultural mindset, it is becoming more and
more like California and that is something that none of us want to see.

Me too. But do you think the percentage of mentally ill Muslims is
higher than the percentage of mentally ill Christians?

And _which_ do you think would be dangerous to large crowds, or malls,

Your belief is that is it just one group that is dangerous, but that is
a logical fallacy. Anyone with a religious vendetta is going to be
dangerous to others. Japan had their Sarin subway terrorists, Ireland
had trouble for a couple of hundred years over two branches of
Christianity, Hindus and Sikhs have gone at it a number of times, and
many, many other groups have happily attacked each other.

None of the above cared if anyone else was caught in the fray.

As to your scenario: I don't think there is a difference between
_mentally_ill_ members of this religions.

Best regards

Bullshit, I can think of only one in the past 50 years that occurred
in the US by someone who might be construed as a Christian.

No. All people that believe in gods, are mentally ill :-)

Perhaps. But most of the people who believe in some god or gods don't go around doing violent things to their neighbours, or to passing strangers. You have to be more specific about the nature the of mental illness invovled and concentrate your attention on the variations that are worth worrying about.

Sure. The however is that, the leader of Christians, Jesus, said, don't go
around killing people of other religions. The leader of Muslims, Muhammad,
said, go and kill people of other religions. Surely, one would anticipate
that this would have an effect as to whether the equal ratio numbers of
mentally ill result in more killings by one religion than other.
