The name itself is unremarkable, apart from being attached to a particularly cognitively challenged jackass, who thinks that everything he thinks he knows is absolutely correct, and is totally incapable of recognising that some of it isn't. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

Read Freakonomics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freakonomics If you want to do something high-tech, living in an area where there are lots of different people with a variety of different high-tech skills is really very handy. Small cities can be that kind of core - Route 128 was built around Boston and MIT - but big cities accommodate a wider range of skill sets. That's why people are prepared to pay higher rents to live in a big city. Burying the city might make it less of an abomination, but I like my view out across Sydney Harbour, and most primates like being able to keep an eye on their immediate environment. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

" Yeah, and then the jew, oops Dodge brothers sued him because they thought they should get more dividends. And now, because that suit created case law, and publicly traded company must have things built in China if it results in more profits ad therefore dividends. (notice the word jew not capitalised, that means I am not referring to the people specifically, although they were, incidentally, of that lineage) That lawsuit is what pushed many mid skill jobs out of this country and now we have a damnear permanent underclass of minimum wage workers. This effect is aided by the poor education system and other societal influences like bad Parenting and peer pressure to "keep it real" and to be cool. That is progress.

Plus, the Dodges had more horsepower and sliding gear transmissions and they were very rugged so we were able to stop Pancho Villa from coming across the border and selling drugs and raping and being undocumented and making anchor babies. So it all worked out in the end and the US became a very famous country with lots of freedoms. -- Grizzly H.

These days, that tends to take precedent over infant survivability. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant_mortality

You will *never* convince him to shift his opinions no matter what you post. Trust me on that.

>"You will *never* convince him to shift his >opinions no matter what you post. Trust me on that. " That is of course based on his posts as nobody here has likely ever met another in person. But the experience in the US is that older means less liberal because we do eventually learn, at least some of us. What made this country so successful in the past ? First on the moon, first in quite a few things, and back a while back about the highest standard of living on the planet. What did that for us ? We were conservative. Taxation on the rich was high, in 1971 you paid ninety percent on everything over a hundred grand. Of course that was alot of money back then but the people who made that money felt quite compelled to invest it or spend it somehow on something to get a deduction. That stimulated the economy and even some personal charity. They had chaperones at school dances, visiting friends of the opposite sex you were not allowed in the bedroom. Many people worked their way through college. People paid cash for a new car. Now they put the fucking gasoline on a credit card that they have no hope of ever paying off. What we got now is what liberalism does for you. If Slowman is so smart, how come he is unemployed ? If he is so fucking good he should own his own business. But then liberals don't know math so I guess that's out. Every person I know who can actually produce something of value or add value is conservative. Then there are moderates that others (Slowman that is) would call ultraconservative. These are the people who do not want their tax dollars supporting people from other countries who will rape their daughters and raise radicalised children to go and shoot up our schools. We want to keep what we have - TO CONSERVE. Not just throw it away. that is what conservative is SUPPOSED to mean, not these asshole republicans with more of a war agenda than Hillary Clinton, who is NOT a democrat. She is simply allied with the party as a matter of convenience. Remember PUMA ? That was a short lived website of hers ad PUMA stands for "Party Unity My Ass". It was very short lived and it is hard to get any information on it now but I remember it and I am not making it up. As bad as Trump is, and yes I know in the past he supported the democrats, she is worse. In either case, if that's the best we can do we are fucked.

The *best* people aren't allowed within a million miles of the Presidency. The shadow government which comprises the likes of Soros and Kissinger - those who really run things from behind the scenes - want mere puppets who will sell their souls for money and prestige. People they can buy. The very last thing they want are independent thinkers who might actually make a positive difference; that's not in their interest. This is why Hillary, for all her terrible flaws, is still their preferred candidate.

But the experience in the US is that older means less liberal because we do eventually learn, at least some of us. This was checked a few years ago, and what is actually going is that people aren't so much changing their political opinions as they get older, as that more young people have liberal ideas. http://blogs.worldbank.org/europeandcentralasia/aging-societies-will-young-liberals-become-old-conservatives The conservatives are comforting themselves with the idea that people are likely to switch to the conservative camp as they got older, but the evidence didn't entirely support that particular delusion. <snip> -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

Since Cursitor Doom has never tried to persuade me with "catagorical evidence" of anything, his opinion isn't exactly trustworthy. When he does post links to what he thinks is evidence, it's mostly to the Daily Express. The link to infant mortality above is one that I posted, probably in another thread (since I can't find it in this one). Quite why Mike Perkins thinks that it supports his point of view escapes me. It doesn't cover average family size, which is what Mike Perkins claims to be telling us about. So Cursitor Doom can't even recognise the absence of categorical evidence when its right under his nose. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney
