For people who don't > know. Like you. I don't recall seeing any such measurements unless perhaps it was for a drink, like punch. I also don't make much that requires a lot of liquid. But I did check the cook time for the beans the other day and it said to use 6 cups of water.

Then when I was in perhaps the 5th grade, the word was that we were going to go metric. We learned it in school but then nothing really happened except for changes to measuring cups, rulers and tape measures and perhaps some car dash panels. Not sure if any are still that way.

I once followed a recipe in Carol Field's book on Italian Baking where she specifies weights for dry ingredients and cups for liquids. I used my Canadian 250ml cup and the result was a complete disaster. That 14ml really did make a difference! Graham

Depends on the age. When I was a kid, they did not. At some point, they began putting them on the liquid ones. Not the dry ones.
