An interesting question. Normally, I'd assume no, he'll be back.
Taylor has killed regular characters before, though. And Tagon isn't
the title character, after all.

He hasn't been seen since. But then again only a few minutes have
elapsed in Schlock time since then so....

Well, he carried a bomb into a room full of teraport cages. He would
be daft not to try to dive into one before the bomb went off.

I will point out a conference of AIs that took place 3.6 seconds before
the detonation concluded that saving him involved risking the rest of
the personnel on the ship (and the ship if it didn't self detonate).
Captain Tagon was a casualty of the Tagnon Exclusion Principle (there
can only be one Tagnon in a plot line at a time).

I haven't checked on the strip in a few weeks. So you're saying ...
... he brought a bomb to a teraport fight?

He brought a bomb sized grenade to a room of teraport cages. Not good.

It wasn't a bomb sized grenade. It was the warhead of a ship-to-ship
missile.

One man's ship-to-ship missile warhead is another man's grenade.

Let's not forget, we've had characters dead _and buried_ who came

While it might run counter to many tropes, I'm on the side saying
Tagon's dead, dead, dead. I love Tagon, I hate the idea that he's dead,
but sometimes you go into a situation knowing that death is what's
coming for you, and the question is what will that death accomplish. If
his death accomplishes his goal (and the heat-exchangers don't die)
it'll be a good death.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least for this particular comic.
Still, it wouldn't especially surprise me if he weren't dead, either.

Which is a great compliment to Howard Taylor. Few storytellers are
caapable of such a feat.
