Does Chi count as an X?

You've no idea how mangled that came out in a non-UTF8 aware
newsreader.

The headers say:

I do now: impressively opaque. She’s Souzana
Khatzinikolaou or Hatzinikolaou in modern transcriptions.

I will arbitrarily rule that it would count, if I could read
Greek or if there was an English translation.

Well, Alan E. Nourse wrote a reminiscence of his intern days,
entitled _Intern_ by "Dr. X." It isn't SF, but it's by an SF
writer. Will that do?

(Good read, by the way.)

I was going to mention that too. All MITSFS's database has
are that one and two Chinese-language paperbacks by an
author whose name transliterates as "XIE SHI JUN". Titles
are:

HANG TIAN BO YU (ENG: SPACE FLIGHT TO SOW RAIN)

and

SUN WU KONG HEI DONG LI XIAN JI (ENG: RECORD OF THE MONKEY KING'S ADVENTURES IN A BLACK HOLE)

If they were translated, I would probably stop by to check out the Monkey
King for the amusement value.

Of course that is likely to be inspired by Journey to the West.

Of course. But to my recollection, JttW doesn't include black

Well, Sun Wu Kong/Kung is the Monkey King of that particular legend, yes.

Oh, if they were, I would too! One of my grandson's books (he's
7) is a maybe 25-page graphic novel about Monkey and his companions,
and it's way in advance of his grade level, but he's crazy about
it and can read most of it.

Sun Wu Kung (a version of him) is a major character in _Spheres of
Influence_ (and in Challenges of the Deeps, which I'm writing now).

It was the neap tide, when the baga venture out of their
holes to root for sandtatties. The waves whispered
rhythmically over the packed sand: haggisss, haggisss,
haggisss.

Of the sort that nomrally annoys the hell out of me, but in this
case, no. Perhaps because there's more than one dimension (which is
usually "annoyingly immature, even to the point of being suicidal,
which is also not the case here).

Well, Xenophon could qualify in a pinch: His _Anabasis_ has served
as the inspiration for a good number of SF books including Norton's
_Star Guard_, Weber & Ringo's _March Upcountry_ & co and Jack Campbell's
"Lost Fleet" series.

Also based on _Anabasis_ is _Forlorn Hope_ by David Drake.

Any other letter of our ordinary Amurrican alphabet, I could help you with.

Racer X I am at a loss for. Might try a Xavier or some such though.

In searching around, I stumbled across an author named
Tianna Xander who looks like she has (self-?)published
quite a bit of fantasy/paranormal romance (probably blended
with erotica in some cases). Everything I saw by her was
an ebook, and that's about everything I know about it.
