I saw maybe seven on the list itself - Scalzi is not fantasy as such, Lynn, though I know it's a sequel - and three more from the comments. My most-awaited has to be Saunders' Commonweal v.4, _Under One Banner_, and I trust him enough to also be excited about _The Human Dress_, which is nearly ready, apparently. Memories of a comment from Graydon in reply to Charlie Stross that book
5 takes place during part of book 4 so there was some back and forth
between the storylines that required a bit of rewriting. Release of 4
and 5 could be relatively close.

Pace AF's comment anyway, might be more of a wait. I took (your?) advice and finally made it past "I have no idea what's happening" on _The March North_ and followed up by devouring the next two immediately. Graydon Saunders' Commonweal series everyone - high recommendation. Cheers - Jaimie -- On diving in UK waters: 'Sharp edges? Must be the wreck.' 'It's moving? Must be supper.' That's rather the point. If you're expected to repay it, it's not a
gift, it's a loan. For many people, the "payment" of giving a gift
is that they like to give gifts.

Fortunately my to-be-read stack is the size of a small hill so it'll be years, if not decades, before any new stories will be needed by me. OTOH rasw's more voracious readers always need new novels for their famished bibliophilic maws. LOL. Thank you, -- Don

Not all of the books (mostly the ones at the end of the list, i.e., scheduled for the end of 2018) came with publisher information, but most of those that did were not Tor. -- "We have advanced to new and surprising levels of bafflement." I may not be likely to purchase it, but "The Unmapped Country", at least, sounds like a book to which a lot of people would be looking forwards. Then there's "Frankenstein in Baghdad". What, the monster isn't out going after ISIS/Daesh? Why would Tor be advertising books by the enemy? Finally, there's "Children of Blood and Bone". Hmm. "A rogue princess and a rebellious magician take on an oppressive monarchy"; sounds like a formula for a sure-fire blockbuster! ... wait a moment, I think I saw the movie. In fact, I went to episode 8 of it the other day... Of course, it's not as if the moviemaker I'm thinking of was wholly original, so others should be able to tap on his sources for the benefit of their audiences and cultures... John Savard

The creature is a monster that has to be stopped.

Since the description talked about the novel providing "another perspective" on Iraq, it seemed like it was going to be talking about the lack of American concern for the impact of the conflict on civilians there. I would expect someone angry would be angry at those who really caused the violence. Even if he isn't thinking clearly, because this is a case where the shots are actually being fired by the responsible ones... unlike civilians affected by the Israeli response to shots fired at Israel by Hamas. That's a case where it takes difficult clear thinking to blame Hamas and not Israel. So even if it's a monster and not a superhero, the impression I got was that the book was aimed at saying that America should learn something and improve its conduct. Well, I'm not a fan of *uncritical* approval of even the best of nations... and now Trump is President. However, most of America's critics seem to be enemies rather than constructive critics these days. John Savard

Since Daesh didn't cause the bombing of Baghdad, the monster isn't particularly mad at Daesh. For one thing it doesn't exist yet. The book was published in 2013

Princess Leia wasn't a rogue princess; she was rebelling against the Empire, but so was her planet, Alderaan. So this is a completely different story... John Savard
