That is always the question, isn't it? There are thousand of "peer
reviewed" journals (complete with the quote marks) out there these
days, and for a few thousand bucks, *anybody* can be a world
renowned expert in any field.

Lynn's sources aren't even pretending to be sources. They're
"news" coverage (complete with quote marks) talking *about*
sources, which are likely also not actual sources. None of which
means that the ultimate sources are *wrong*, of course, any more
than Lynn's belief means they're right.
News is a business, and it's not the business of selling news.
It is curious, though, how enchanted Lynn is with a) the "nothing
to see here, everything's fine" psuedoscience and b) post-
apocalypic revenge fantasy, both at the same time. It's like one
side of his face *wants* the world to end, but the other believes
it'll never happen. Must be a very sad life.

In regards to news as a business, someone once told me that "news is
written on the backside of advertisements." A department store magnate
named John Wanamaker once said, "Half the money I spend on advertising
is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half." Ernest Hemingway
said, "Newspaper work will not harm a young writer and could help him if
he gets out of it in time."
News is a force of nature. Those who would be king must always use
it to their advantage. Fleet Street interests ranked just as high as
Threadneedle Street interests in empire builder David Rhodes inner
circle.
There's really nothing new about the old guard bad mouthing Trump's
tweets. Technology put the old guard's nose out of joint because a
President, any President, no longer needs the old guard as much.
The same thing happened after radio usurped wire reports. Roosevelt
mastered radio and used it to impress the masses. The noses of old guard
wire reporters were put out of joint after radio leapfrogged over them
in the Presidential entourage.
Thank you,
--
Don

Indeed. News is the business of selling eyeballs. The reader isn't
the customer, the advertiser is. And advertisers care a great deal
about demographics. They don't want to spend money advertising to
people who aren't going to do busienss with them no matter what.
So, in order to attract advertisers, news organizations have to
develop a specific market, and cater to advertisers who want
similar demograhpics. Hence, we have Faux news catering to the
wingnut right, and CNN catering to the moonbat left, both run by
people who really don't give a damn about the polics of either
viewers or advertisers, only about selling the former to the
latter.
And we live in a time when the general public is uneducated,
disgaged, and frankly, *stupid*. People won't read news that tells
them things they don't want to hear. Especially if it's true. So
what appears in the news is completely disconnected from reality.
It relfectso only the demographics their advertisers wish to do
busienss with. It might be true, or it might be complete fiction.
Occasionally, though, you get a link to an actual source, and
sometimes, a little bit of actual fact leaks through despite the
best efforts of the propagandists.
What's that all mean for AGW alarmists and deniers? Nohthing.
They're all propagandists, too, on both sides.

Of course, the wife says that I am half empty guy so that could qualify as sad. I don't believe the AGW crowd because their models are too simple. I make my living writing and selling modelling software to engineers, the toughest and most skeptical market on the planet. Any well trained process engineer insists on building a full energy and material balance around the problem at hand. *None* of the AGW models have built a full energy and material balance around the Earth. It is just too complex of a problem for modern science and compute technology. Lynn

I would imagine they generally predict catastrophic faiulre. Much

wrong, people tend to die. When AGW alamrists are wrong, they tend
to get more taxpayer funded grant money.

If Edgar Allan Poe had written about Terry Austin Hear the whining of the troll, Crippled troll, Bellowing his hatred of the people that are whole. How he rages, rages, rages In a mind that’s dark as night. And the only bit of bright to Pierce the cobwebs of that foul mind Is his monitor’s own light. Hear him whine, whine, whine His pathetic little lines: “You must answer,” “you’re my bitch now;” his illusion of control From the troll, troll, troll, troll, Troll, so droll From the screaming-for-attention, bitter troll.

A doctor who prescribes insulin for Type II diabetes is incompetent.
There are, however, other mediations that work similiarily, or are
otherwise suitable for Type II, such as glipizide or pioglitazone
hydrochloride.

Okay, but he's right about this one. Type II diabetics should not take insulin. There are a LOT of medications available now, as I see on the TV ads. Metformin remains the drug of choice, with Glipizide a common add-on. -- My webpage is at http://www.watt-evans.com My latest novel is Tom Derringer in the Tunnels of Terror. There are, apparently, circumstances where it's prescribed - as an
addition to other medication. But Quaddie's idiotic implication
that it's used _instead of_ Metformin is, as usual, idiotic.

Broadly speaking, Metformin is in a class of drug that makes the
body more sensitive to (naturally produced) insulin, while
Glipizide is in a class of drug that stimulates more production of
insulin. Pioglitazone hydrochloride (brand name Actos, though it's
out of patent now so is available in generic form) is, I believe,
in the former category, though it also apparently has some addition
effects that are considered desriable over the usual drugs from
that class. Or so my doctor told me.
