Which says far, far more about you than it does about AGW dissenter,
or anything else. You've just admitted that you aren't interested in
facts or science, only in propaganda that fits your fantasy.
Which is why so many people don't take AGW scare tactics seriously.
Act like a cult, you get treated like a cult.

It would be more convincing to actually refute his claims.
I don't expect a lot in that area.

You also asked me this question in another post. I forgot to reply, so: As I've indicated above, the comments Bryson makes in this article are either incorrect or deeply misleading. They are not acceptable. He on the other hand was a distinguished scientist with a large body of good work to his credit. Richard Lindzen is, if anything, an even more respected scientist who is a skeptic. But you won't find him making comments as in the above story. Instead he proposed that there are negative feedbacks in the atmosphere-ocean system which are strong enough to almost negate CO2-induced warming. His MIT web page in the 1990s promised a climate model which, it was asserted, would be better than current models and less sensitive to CO2 (how they knew this in advance I cannot say). None of this panned out and the world has continued to warm - well past the maximum he predicted for a CO2 doubling, though CO2 has far from doubled. For him to be right, 90% of the warming we've experienced has to be from non-greenhouse causes. Which is hard to believe in that the warming matches the fingerprint of CO2 warming and not, e.g. solar (not that Lindzen made or would ever make that claim.). Lindzen continues to write papers and editorials, both on the topic of AGW and on his other climate related research interests. Two distinguished scientists. One a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Both far more accomplished than I. Both "acceptable" in any sense of the word. Both wrong. Even the great can be wrong. William Hyde

Fred Hoyle, one of the giants of 20th century cosmology and, some argue, desperately unlucky not to win a Nobel prize for his work on stellar nucleosynthesis(*), went to his grave defending the steady state model of the universe in the face of all evidence. How much of this was down to pure stubbornness I can't say, but I suspect a fair bit. ObSF: Fred Hoyle. Agreed, even the great can be wrong. Despite all of his mathematical
aptitude, Issac Newton lost his fortune in the South Sea Company.
_The Cambridge Companion to Science Fiction_ (James and Mendlesohn)
shares my belief that skepticism and theoretical dissent are essential
for the advancement of science. Matter of fact, skepticism and
theoretical dissent are essential to just about every human endeavor.
Yes-men are useless.
It's good of you to keep your explanation simple and use laymen's
terms. A lot of AGW's "shop talk" goes right over my head.
Thank you,

That's a classic case of somebody being good at one thing not necessarily meaning they're good at other things.

He wrote or co-wrote five books and 230 articles. I can't be sure that all of the latter were peer-reviewed, but scanning the (truncated) list I can see that some at least were in Science. I didn't know the NASA/GSFC crowd well at the time, but my impression from his 1986 talk was that he was regarded as a serious and accomplished researcher, if a bit eccentric. Certainly there was no such disturbance as when William Gray came to talk about nuclear winter. William Hyde

Someone claims the Apollo moon landing was a hoax. I don't know anything about him on a personal level - but given all the geologists who studied the lunar samples, all the people involved in the Apollo project, I think it's likelier that he is either lying or nuts than that he is right. That is an _ad hominem_ attack? If so, you must be using a definition of that with which I am not familiar. John Savard

The evidence to support such a claim, and the rather thorough
debunking of that evidence, is readily available and understandable
by the average person.
And doesn't require any namecalling at all.

Yes, it is.

There are a *lot* of words you are unfamiliar with the definition
of.
Act like a cult, you get treated like a cult.

Of course, the only consistent property of economic models is that
they're wrong.
