A Year of Tanith Lee! One book a week for a year. I am a little worried that
my first big project was only 14 books long, the next fifty and now this one
is even longer. But 52 only slighter larger than 50.

The intended list is as follows, although such mundane issues as "availability"
may force changes.

Princess Hynchatti (1972)
The Birthgrave (1975)
The Storm Lord (1976)
The Winter Players (1976)
Volkhavaar (1977)
Drinking Sapphire Wine (1977)
(Don't Bite the Sun (1978) Excluded because I reviewed it)

!?! A Tanith Lee title that I have never heard of?! ... checks
ISFDB ... short story chapbook? You have a copy?

Er, this is _The Dragon Hoard_ (1971).

Why not "Companions on the Road" (published with "The Winter
PLayers" in the USA)? For that matter, where's _East of Midnight_,
_The Castle of Dark_, and _Shon the Taken_?

I do not! I assembled the list from suggestions. However, I believe it's now
part of a longer work.

Depending on what I can actually find, they may get swapped in.

The moral is, find the books before making the list.

Also a possible substitute.

My very first Tanith Lee story has now been read. :) It was a short
story (my recreational reading time is extremely limited) hosted by the
unSFnal _Nature_ website. [1] The unSFnal nature of the story, so to
speak, intrigued me enough to pick that story first.

*spoiler space*

"Dead Yellow" dovetails with a recent rasw thread about the lack of
green stars. But yellow's the dead color in the Lee story. Lee's story
paints horrific landscapes along the way and ends with a sort of hard
science fiction gestalt.

When you get to 1980 you could pause and watch two episodes of the
British SF TV series Blake's 7 - look for the episodes Sarcophagus and
Sand.

The latter is 1976. I infer that you're aware that <Drinking Sapphire
Wine> is an immediate sequel.

I'm mildly disappointed not to see <Piratica> (2004) et seqq. (2006,
2007) here. You being Canadian may make the third, not published in
the US, more accessible to you.

If I'm able by then to get to the copy of III about a hundred miles from
me, maybe I'll wait until you get this far and then snip the relevant
stuff from my book log to post ahead of time.
