Your memory is better than mine. Schallert and a general arrive by helicopter at a Death Valley missile site just as Colossus begins a worldwide TV broadcast. Schallert and the general are given chairs in front of a TV that is set up outside of the silo under a tarp. As Schallert takes out a small cigar with a tip Colossus announces the destruction of that Death Valley missile site. Everybody except Schallert runs away from the TV set. Schallert lights his cigar as the warhead goes off. They filmed the bug planet scenes of Starship Troopers outside of my hometown. They paid $50 per day to extras. One person confessed afterward that he found it most humiliating to act like a frightened idiot. -- Don Kuenz KB7RPU
