Gmail has started bouncing messages from the racc mailing list that echoes the newsgroup. As usual for Gmail, there is no hint as to why and nothing has changed about how the list works, and of course there's no usable contact information. I have reconfigured the list to make sure that it always rewrites From headers because I noticed that one of the bounces had a Gmail address in the From header. Not sure why the DMARC handling code didn't handle that, since things going to Gmail should always be rewritten, but maybe this will fix it? There are various things that I know I could do to sign messages from the mailing list but I have almost no time to work on it, so in practice I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to do to solve this problem if that doesn't work. Hopefully affected people will see this in the newsgroup or mailing list archive somehow. -- Russ Allbery (eagle@eyrie.org) <https://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/>

Update on this: There were several messages that got thru but gmail marked them spam? I marked them as not spam and I'm going to keep doing so and hopefully that'll convince whatever algorithm is doing this that they're fine. @@ Drew "so it goes??" Nilium

Nilium Okay, that's great news, that means that it's not rejecting everything all the time. A few people did get unsubscribed, it looks like, but hopefully Mailman will send them notifications of that and they'll notice eventually if they're still reading. Thank you for training their algorithm! -- Russ Allbery (eagle@eyrie.org) <https://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/>
