Co takiego jak weak_ptr które są również w C++.

po to by łatwiej było go konwertować na weak?
Bo konwersja jest konieczna. Czy shared ma oba liczniki, tylko jednego 
nie wykorzystuje?
Jakie reguły zwalniania weak?
