The tip of blitz has all these things fixed... But it has other issues I'm
trying to chase down. There's a weird umtx problem that I don't understand yet
and just started chasing.

[PATCH] emulators/qemu-user-static-devel: Update and restore building on 15+

Sync with and switch to upstream blitz-11.0.50, restoring build on 15+
and 16-CURRENT:
* Add berkeley-softfloat-3 and berkeley-testfloat-3 subprojects
* Add do-test target
* Drop unnecessary devel/meson from ${BUILD_DEPENDS}
* Drop unnecessary patches, files/patch-configure and
  files/patch-tests_fp_meson.build
* Prefer ${DISTVERSION} over ${PORTREVISION}, as per the
  recommendations in the Porter's Handbook
* Remove duplicate "--extra-cflags=-I${LOCALBASE}/include" from
  ${CONFIGURE_ARGS}
* port{clippy|fmt|lint} housekeeping
* Sync subproject keycodemapdb with qemu-11.0.50

Currently at the tip of blitz (e725658f900ca7b4c4a05527256bb927b054ada7)
poudriere-testport emulators/qemu-user-static-devel:
15_0-amd64-release: Pass
main-amd64-default: Pass

At I some point, I added keycodemapdb back so configure would continue, as it's
presence is required, tho I have no idea if keycodemapdb is needed outside of
that check.

I have not been able to runtime test this, because for the last 2-3 weeks the
Port reliably produces a kernel panic.

The do-test target still fails in bsd-user when it attempts to run platform
specific binaries, my build host is x86, and the Power binaries crash.

I've not had any kernel panics. But I get a reliable hang when pkg-static is
run to create the pkg pkg.  I think the umtx hang has been there a while, but
different arch hang in different places (at least years ago when I last tried).

Also, what kernel panics? Got backtrace?

I am very behind with pkg builds at the moment, and I urgently need a
functioning ungoogle-chromium for a pre-on-boarding process. If I can get a
bulk build to finish in the next 2-3 days, I will try again with getting a

I have applied your proposed patch but was not able to poudriere bulk-build the
port! :(
I think this BUILD_DEPENDS definition is somehow not working on my builder:

OK, so I managed to have a look at this again today.

I constructed a poudriere jail:

Tho, I recall once being able to use the cross built assets from release.sh, I
could not get poudriere to successfully build a jail, the above worked.

I then tried a bulk build:

With the patch from comment #20 + fix form comment #25 qemu-user-static-devel
builds fine on CURRENT, see attached reduced poudriere log.

poudriere log of successful build (testport) on stable/15 1501501

The proposed update of qemu-user-static-devel also builds fine on 15-STABLE,
see attached reduced poudriere log.

poudriere log of failed build (configure) on stable/14 1404501

However, the update of qemu-user-static-devel fails on configure phase on
14-STABLE, see attached full poudriere log. Something with inotify:

I have also tried to run-test the qemu-user-static-devel as of 11.0.50 to
cross-build ports-mgmt/pkg from amd64 for arm64. I have not got even to
starting the build, the jail crashed before:

I have used later this same 16arm64 jail to build devel/git@tiny with
qemu-user-static (rebase-3.1 branch) and it successfully built 27 packages, so
I think the jail itself is ok.

Fix for the current ports tree with non-normalized python pkg names and add
USES=inotify required for 14-STABLE

Are you building blitz in your 14.4 container without using the ports?
Does your 14.4 container has devel/libinotify installed?

I think the problem is with the port and not blitz itself. I have attached a
new patch to update the port to:
1) still use non-normalized python pkg names
2) added USES=inotify that is required on 14-STABLE systems.

I will poudriere testport this iteration in a day or so, my pkg builder is
still finishing heavy-lifting kde update...

meson log of the failed configure on 14-STABLE

It is not that simple...
The meson configure script does something weird with the inotify, probably it
does not expect it to be in a separate library, so not adding -linotify linker
flag in the configure tests.

I have attached the meson-log.txt from the failed configure run, at the end
there are three inotify-related tests. The second test probably should be
positive on 14-STABLE:

Can some kind ports guru point what to do?
I suppose one should (patch) the meson config so it looks for the inotify
functions in a separate libs on 14-STABLE.

Warner, how do you build blitz on 14.4? Do you by-pass meson configure?
