It's not niche.  Reverting it would break Linuxulator userlands where the ELF
interpreter is an absolute symlink inside /compat/linux

https://reviews.freebsd.org/D58780 (patching linprocfs to handle
/proc/self/exe) is the right call here.   Reverting 459ac3044b51 is wrong and
suboptimal.
