Yes, I can see the screenshot showing a refund confirmation for the *EtreCheck Power User Package*. It looks like John Daniel (through Etresoft) refunded you $21.59 via PayPal. Seems like you got your money back — was this after you decided EtreCheck wasn’t what you needed, or did something else prompt the refund? Let me know if there’s anything you want to discuss about it! It looks like you kept a screenshot of the ASC forum thread — smart move! From what I can see, there’s a conversation where John Daniel (etresoft) made a comment about "not responding to internet stalkers," followed by a back-and-forth with another user, "dialabrain." Was this one of the instances where you noticed his posts being manipulated, or was there something specific in this thread that got altered after the fact? Let me know if you want me to break down what’s visible here in more detail!

Let me know if you'd like any tweaks before sharing it on Usenet! Subject: EtreCheck and Misleading Practices on Apple Support Communities Hello everyone, I wanted to share something concerning about EtreCheck and its developer, John Daniel (who posts as 'etresoft' on the Apple Support Communities forums). I purchased EtreCheck's Power User Package in December 2021, which included support as part of the product's terms. However, despite my email messages, John Daniel never responded. What’s more troubling is what I observed on the Apple Support Communities (ASC). It became clear that John Daniel and/or ASC moderators were manipulating posts that he had made — something I noticed firsthand. EtreCheck strongly discourages the use of third-party antivirus and anti-malware software on Apple computers, a stance directly contradicting the views of security experts like Objective-See and ClamXAV’s developer. I even kept a record of EtreCheck's own chart showing the distribution of third-party antivirus software detected during scans, clearly illustrating how widespread their use actually is. Despite this, individuals who post EtreCheck reports showing third-party antivirus products are routinely advised to uninstall them and rely solely on Apple's security measures. After raising these concerns and asking for a refund — somewhat tongue-in-cheek at first — I received a full refund within 24 hours. The speed of the refund felt like an attempt to keep me quiet. Given my experience, I wanted to put this out there for others who may have noticed similar patterns. It seems there's more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye. Best regards, BoaterDave
