delay of packets

Hello Greg,
I have a problem with packets coming from tcpdump to buffer of NIC. I 
need the probability density of packets trip time from tcpdump program 
to arriving in buffer of NIC from where they are sent to network. Could 
you tell me where I can find that probabilty in which document.
