It might be that the .bin file is a bash script presented as a sh one.

If file biovia_2019_.ds2019client.bin resturns "/bin/sh script" that
would be almost sure. In that case try

bash ./biovia_2019.ds2019client.bin to force bash interpreter

That won't work, because...

It's not the ./biovia_2019.ds2019client.bin script that's actually
got these errors in it. It's the "./install_DSClient.sh" script, which
I'm guessing is part of the payload that's extracted and/or downloaded
by ./biovia_2019.ds2019client.bin.

It may be impossible to specify that ./install_DSClient.sh needs to be
run by bash, due to internal checksums, or glob knows what else. So,
your safest option is to reconstruct the environment in which this
"biovia" thing is known to work, which probably means /bin/sh -> bash.

Probably not, since the file which complains is called
"/install_DSClient.sh". The .bin file appears to be a self-extracting
archive which then runs the shell script.

Most likely that will not work. To use bash as /bin/sh for the biova
installer, switchsh[1] could be used instead.

Cheers,

Good idea, but it didn't work! Got the same result, it just took longer.

Fastidious (27 steps!) but maybe effective.

Shorter:

bash DS2019Client.bin --keep
cd client/
sed s/"echoe"/"echo -e"/g install_DSClient.sh > install_DSClient_e.sh
bash install_DSClient_e.sh

(for the License Pack):
cd lp_installer/
bash lp_setup_linux.sh --keep
cd lpbuild/
sed s/"echoe"/"echo -e"/g install_lp.sh > install_lp_e.sh

I followed the Linux Mint Forum directions an got the results shown in
the attached DiscoveryStudio2019.run.log (attached).

Next step(s), please?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the vote confidence, but it's probably misplaced.

;-)

So, I guess, it doesn't run, and all you get is the log? All the log
tells me of note (me not really speaking shell) is that the "License Pack
location (%LP_LOCATION%) is not a valid location" (I *think* that's
what it's telling me).

I did note at the Mint Forum link I gave you the following: "Before
installing DSV, consult the System Requirements on the Biovia webpage,
and install as many of the recommended libraries as you can. Because
Biovia only supports RHEL, CentOS, and SUSE, you will need to translate
the library names from rpm to deb nomenclature," which looks to be an
arduous task.

Anyway, did you run

/home/comp/Apps/Biovia2019/DiscoveryStudio2019/bin/../bin/config_lp_location <location of LicensePack>

(or is that not really the problem)?
