I usually read mail list posts in kmail, but they never show the posts that I made (except in the sent mail folder). I want to see if a post I sent made it to the list. I tried going to: https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2018/10/thrd2.html debian-user Oct 2018 by thread But it says (and has said for at least several minutes): The last update was on 19:40 GMT Thu Oct 25. There are 859 messages. Page 2 of 2. I think that is about 4 hours behind the current time. So it is not updating in "real time". Is there another place to read posts on a browser in closer to real time?

Did you forget to look at the "GMT" part?

Did you forget to look at the "GMT" part? Something like that, just call it a brain fart. ;-)

Never mind, my 4 hours was wrong, it seems to update every 20 minutes. A different way around that prickly mulberry tree that gmail is, is to subscribe using 2 different names, then post exclusively to one name, and accept for reading, the other name. The problem is its a cast iron bitch to remember to do the posting only via the first name subbed. The echo coming back from a mailing list is seen as a duplicate by gmail and is deleted. Kmail 1.9 can do that theoretically if you set the sending account with a sticky bit, but that gets blown away entirely too easily. So trust but verify before you hit send, or clean house until you only have one send profile. I had a long talk with the google folks about that several years ago and found it was not even open for discussion. Some time later they decided my tls was not up to their specs, and I have now been using my isp's mail server since. I can't say as I miss gmail a bit.
