Hello Debian pros,

I am trying to build an ISO image with the package debian-cdd, and I am
struggling with the following error:

Especially, I do not understand this one: "E: The value 'stretch' is

Can someone point me in the right direction?

There is a lot of "Use of uninitialized value $default_desktop ". The CD
image I am building is for a server does not contain a desktop
environment.

The package's news list on
  https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/simple-cdd
looks like it is actively maintained.

  https://sources.debian.org/src/simple-cdd/0.6.6/README/
says

if you have further questions, ask on the simple-cdd-devel mailing list:
  http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/simple-cdd-devel, or in the
  debian-custom channel on irc.debian.org.

But obviously that mailing list fell victim to the big cleanout which
came with the decomissioning of server "alioth".

So i would next refer to the package maintainers' page
  https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=simple-cdd%40packages.debian.org
or the most recent Uploader's page
  https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?email=vagrant%40debian.org
and consider to mail first to
  simple-cdd@packages.debian.org
about the missing mailing list and the simple-cdd error messages.
(The first two error messages should suffice for a start.)

If the mail bounces or gets no reply within about three days, i would
mail to Vagrant Cascadian.

Filing a Debian bug towards package simple-cdd would be an option, too:
  https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting

The mailing list debian-cd@lists.debian.org might be involved because
simple-cdd depends on debian-cd, and the error messages say "debian-cd".

Have a nice day :)

Hi,

are you trying to preseed something?
then just extract a debian standard install disc like netinstall to
/opt/isobuild/debian/image/

do your changes

and the script should rebuild the disk.
unfortunately UEFI only systems wont boot it.

#!/bin/bash

IMAGE=/opt/isobuild/debian/debian-9.3-auto.iso
BUILD=/opt/isobuild/debian/image/

xorriso -as mkisofs \
         -r -V "Debian Auto NetInstall" \
         -cache-inodes \
         -J -l -b isolinux/isolinux.bin \
         -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot \
         -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table \
         -isohybrid-mbr /opt/isobuild/debian/isohdpfx.bin \
         -o $IMAGE $BUILD

Cheers
Markus

Thank you for flying xorriso.

As for the lack of EFI boot equipment in your script, see

  https://wiki.debian.org/RepackBootableISO

"Repacking a Debian ISO with its original boot equipment

This page describes how to determine the ISO 9660 production command
that was used when a Debian ISO image was packed up, and how to derive
a command to replay this production."

The section
"Determine those options which need to be adapted on amd64 or i386"
gives a script example similar to yours, but using the EFI equipment,
too.

Have a nice day :)
