Hi, I've sane installed and running. Sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L detect my scanner, and the test works fine. But when I launch xsane they say that can't find any device. With simple-scan I have the same problem. Any idea?? Thanks.

Strange. xsane uses the same information you have from sane-find-scanner and scanimage -L as far as I know. -- Brian.

Make sure that your user is in the scanner group. Test first whether this is the issue (permissions) by running XSane as root. It won't like it - but it will show you whether it is permissions that are the problem. Lisi

Please see https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2016/07/msg00528.html (A CC: to David Rotger because there is doubt whether his being subscribed to -user or reading the list archives). -- Brian.

I've get the image.pnm My first intention was share the scanner over the net with Win machines, but didn't work. And later I think another solution. Install xming on windows and launch the xsane app. But xsane and simple scan can't find any device. The same with swingsane over network. It's very frustrating...

It's very frustrating... Personally, I am totally unfamiliar with sharing a scanner with non-Linux machines. Best of luck. -- Brian.

This is where we came in. :) If scanimage works for scanning I cannot see why xsane or simple-scan should not work too; both are simply frontends to the same system. The only thing I can suggest is to undo any changes made to configuration files when you were trying to set up network scanning or purge libsane and reinstall it and any packages which are removed. -- Brian.

Whatever the logic or lack of it, have you tried scanning using XSane as root? Lisi
