#158241 — repo keys fail

FromGene Heskett <gheskett@shentel.net>

Subjectrepo keys fail
Message-ID<qcEm5-746-9@gated-at.bofh.it>
Greetings;

My last installation of wheezy has developed a key failure when trying to
run package-manager or synaptic-pkexec, so it is not getting all the
updates.

What is the cli command, presumably prefaced with a sudo, that will fetch
and refresh these changed keys? "sudo apt-key update" does not update
anything.

sudo apt-get update
ends with this:
W: Failed to fetch http://http.debian.org/debian/dists/wheezy/Release.gpg
Could not resolve 'http.debian.org'

W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old
ones used instead.

Solution?

Thanks.

Cheers, Gene Heskett

ftp.us.debian.org exists. I don't think http.debian.org does.
(http is the protocol, not the site.)

Cheers,
David.

A bit confusing since that site with the dists/wheezy in the pathlist,
does not exist in my sources.list. I took a SWAG and changed the last
active one in the list. That did not affect apt-key's refresh report,
but it did get rid of the synaptic-pkexec's squawks about missing index
files. That however, did not enable a flood of updates.

Should I still be worried?

Thanks David.

The mirror redirector was at "http.debian.net", but moved to
"httpredir.debian.org". "http.debian.org" was never used.

Update the sources.list entry and try again.

That seems to have worked. Thank you Ansgar.
