I've also tested it without flash, then you get a "flash upgrade requiered" error. Maybe you should try an older version of flash, if you want to see this site. I've seen in the past that is sometimes a solution. Simply replace the libflashplugin.so you are using with an older one. But then you know your security is not OK. >> How should I know which Channel 4? It's even >> unclear in which country you live. Your flashplugin does not become updates now, I guess. Iceweasel will refuse to use it after some time. Debian packages are system-wide solutions, not only for a specific user. You are using now a solution in your homedirectory. It will work when you update it, or let some script or program update it. Maybe it can update itself, in your homedir it has write-permission. It overrules system-wide solutions like flashplugin-nonfree or the package from deb-multimedia. yayyyy! I got a working solution! :) Install Google Chrome. Chromium doesn't support flash and many other stuff, while Google Chrome is not available directly in debian repository. Download Google Chrome from https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/ and then run the following commads sudo apt-get install gconf-service libgconf-2-4 libnspr4 libnss3 libpango1.0-0 libappindicator1 libcurl3 sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb *solution from http://okomestudio.net/biboroku/?p=2583 There might be some ethical issues from the FSF and DFSG rules but at present one might need to get his/her task done. From the description: "This package will download Chrome from Google, and unpack it to make the included Pepper Flash Player available for use with Chromium." I, too, have found that it is a great solution to the general problem, but unfortunately it doesn't solve this specific one either. But mind you, I tried it with Chrome in Windows7 with VirtualBox, but, interestingly, I encountered exactly the same problem. I'm beginning to wonder whether there could be something faulty at Channel4's side.

I think you will have many packages on your system what are coming from deb-multimedia. Maybe that's what you want, no idea. I think the people from deb-multimedia are doing their best to make good packages. But I think Debian is too complex to mix with a repo like deb-multimedia with many packages. Both packages use the same source from Adobe. Why specifically should one be less solid than the other when it comes to watching flash video?

I tried pepper-flash for chromium but it didn't work..neither did deb-multimedia. The only thing which worked was Google Chrome and it really works. It still disturbs me a little that Lisi's machine doesn't play 4od with HAL and flashplugin-nonfree. At https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2015/09/msg00444.html there is All the ones you mention plus hal-trinity. But so has my husband's computer. He has only the one libflashplayer.so, the mozilla one. I, on the other hand, have three: /home/lisi/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/flashplayer-mozilla/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so The second line is ok but the third line should show /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so as a symlink to /etc/alternatives/flash-mozilla.so. I think libflashplayer.so in $HOME takes precedence over the alternatives system. 'ls -l' might indicate which package provides it.

At I need to try some time on a fresh install, Brian. For now, I still can't watch 4oD on my TV with an attached Jessie computer, so that comes next. But I have never not had HAL (Trinity before 14 requires it) so I have my doubts.
