How toxic is seaborgium?

Currently, there are not very many uses of seaborgium. The element's
radioactive state makes it toxic to organisms and so has no biological
role.

(Maybe, microsoft or google have hijacked (made a hostile takeover of) a
sealiner, to that they can conduct their operations offshore, to evade
paying taxes (or employees) under any country's laws...)

I wonder if that's the case. AFAIK Chromium is distributed by Google,
so it's just Chrome with the proprietary bits removed. I'd be surprised
if Google was going through the trouble to remove the bits that are
beneficial to them.

I'd expect a de-Googlized version of Chrome/Chromium to be named
differently (maybe Wolfram, as suggested by Bret) and distributed by
some other team (one that cares more about Free Software and privacy
than Google).

Just a remark.
Gene,
many people (working in General Attorney offices too) do not know that
they must not simply send a dokument to PRINT as PDF but that it is
necessary to EXPORT the document as PDF. If it is sent to print then it
loses all ability to fill in the form, because it ends up as a PDF which
is meant to be printed and nothing else.
If the the form has fields to be filled by the receiver of the form, then
the only way to go is (for example with Libreoffice Writer) export as PDF.
If you have received a form you may open it using Okular. If Okular then
shows:
"This document has forms. Click on the button to interact with them, or
use View -> Show Forms." and also shows the pertinent button "Show
Forms" then all is well.
If Okular does not show the message nor the button then you are out of
luck.
You might ask the sender to send the form again but this time using
"Export to pdf" instead of just sending it as a file to the pdf printer.
But many an office worker is too computer illiterate to manage "such a
complex task" (it's not complicated).
Then all options left to you is painting over the pdf. Either by using a
drwaing program like other already mentioned or by using Okular and
trying to insert text over the form. It's try-and-error to hit the right
spot.
*Important:*
In any case THEN you need to send the form as file to a pdf printer.
Otherwise the overlay is only stored on your disk but will not be sent
to the intended receiver together with the original pdf file.

Hope eventually all goes well for you and all the best to you
Eike

Most informative. thank you a lot Eike. I have, on another workspace
after installing it "xournal" has opened that pdf, I have enabled the
add annotations function but not killed a tree to test print. I see
both "print" and "Export as pdf" in the file menu.

Are you saying that I should do the annotations, then export to pdf, in
order to overlay my notes over that file and then print that exported
pdf in sufficient copies for the AG office's slaves. Or if its correct,
email the exported pdf back to them. I think that may be the expected
response from me.

Sounds a bit complex but if xournal works as indicated its doable from
my viewpoint.

Thanks again Eike, Take care, stay warm, dry & well please

FWIW, the world of "filling PDFs online" is a painful one with lots of
hidden traps. My understanding is that what you probably want to do is
fill the "holes" of a "PDf form" that were placed there on purpose in
the PDF (it's not just empty space on the page, but the PDF includes
some side-information telling the PDF viewer/editor that this is a hole
that can filled. For some elements, it can also include a list of
options from which to select).

What is usually described as "annotations" in this context is something
different, more like extra text you can put anywhere you like but which
will appear in a special way because it's labeled as an annotation, more
like what you'd use to add comments about a text you were asked
to review.

When I fill a PDF form, Evince lets me just click on the fields I need
to fill (and hit TAB to move from field to field). After that, I need
to save the result (and the UI expects me to use a different file name
for that), otherwise it's happily thrown away silently. Also the
selection of fields (with TAB or clicks) is often fiddly.

I haven't bothered to try other PDF viewers (like Atril or Okulus).

I think I installed 5 or 5, some were already installed, but the only
one I found that actually worked was fldsed, but it has its own limits.
you click where you want to start typing, brings up the pipe symbol, use
the keyboard arrow keys to fine tune the location of the |, start
typing, | expands into a box surrounding what you type. /Check your
speeling and look for typu's, you must destructive backspace to correct
them BEFORE hitting Enter, which makes it permanent.

Anyway, pain in the butt though it was, I finally exported it as a pdf,
It can't print unless you can remember the lpr syntax, and then reloaded
it into Okular and printed two copies, one for me and one to mail back
to Charleston.

Thank you all that tried to help.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program. ;o)>

You can do the annotations and directly print as file to a pdf-printer.
The resulting file can then be sent to the office. You might have to rename
the file because it will most certainly have a name like print.pdf which
is not very informative for storing.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be on the lookout for that. this thing
promises to take a while as 3 of the 6 pages are fill in the checkmarks
or blank area. The first 3 pages are all "if this, do this"
instructions, trying to cover all the bases in one swell foop.

In the past, I would export it.

> Are you saying that I should do the annotations, then export to pdf,

I would encrypt it before returning it. I would use the password
that encoded the original PDF, which contained sensistive information.
Obviously you're not in that situation, but are the one who has to
inform the recipient of the password /before/ sending the document.

I would decode their documents with:
  $ pdftk pw-protected.pdf input_pw pass\!word cat output unprotected.pdf
and encode mine with:
  $ pdftk unprotected.pdf cat output pw-protected.pdf user_pw pass\!word

The attached is a laborious method for generating and adding
annotations, long since replaced by either digital signing
or document uploading.

Cheers,
David.

pdftk form.pdf fill_form data.fdf output form.filled.pdf # fill in
pdftk form.pdf generate_fdf output data.fdf # read

It is a CMDL way.
It's clumsy, cause form-IDs don't match form labels.
At least it tells you if a form is fund in the pdf.
For the sake of completeness.

LibreOffice Draw will do that, if you really and truly want to. It's what I use to fill out a form every month, but It's a real PITA. Easier than filling out the form by hand and driving to the bank, though...
