Hi, https://wiki.debian.org/Root states, "At installation time, you are asked whether you want to use the root account or not. ... If not, no root account is enabled and the password of the first user created will be used for administration tasks." Are instructions to configure that post installation available online? Tips? This is an unfortunate way of expressing it. The root user exists, of course. It just has no password, so login as root is not possible. As Bijan noted in this thread, you only have to issue `passwd' as root to "fix" that, i.e. `sudo passwd' will do. Cheers -- t
