I believe that the "do" that you originally used, is as correct as the "DID" that you (incorrectly) corrected - the poster will still mean what the person originally meant, so both present and past tense could be said to be correct (although, the use of the uppercase characters, in the "DID" that you did post, is questionable). Of more concern, and, something for you to consider, in considering your grammar, is the "should of been" in your "corrective" post, which instead, should have been "should have been"... :) -- Bret Busby Armadale West Australia (UTC+0800) ..............

To get my programs to appear in the desktop menu I create a 'desktop' file in ~/.local/share/applications. The Arch Wiki site is a good place for info desktop files: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/desktop_entries Using Google I found an answer to your specific question about Telegram: https://askubuntu.com/questions/650180/how-to-get-telegram-to-show-up-in-dash -- Tixy

Sorry, I've no idea what directory path(s) snaps install their files to. Perhaps icons are close to the executable binary in the file hierarchy? You could just try looking around in directories and see what you can find. -- Tixy

Last time I read and that was some time ago, Linus Torvalds had moved his machines to lxde. No idea if he's moved on since then though. Imagine not needing to create, edit and customize configuration files to have messenger icon in your graphical interface menu (LOL). Instead, you have to dig internet and ask usergroups for advice. It does seem an oversight in the UI that you can edit the name, command, working directory, tool tip but not the icon. Does your UI let you simply change the icon of a menu or desktop entry? (Assuming the UI has similar.) Anyway, I prefer much prefer this technology than UIs that seem to want to move, hide and remove things. -- Tixy

I presumed this is not possible when I read this thread, hence my comment. I don't use LXDE. Forgive me if I was wrong :) > Does your UI let > you simply change the icon of a menu or desktop entry? Of course, I can edit entire menu, including adding, editing and removing directories and menu entries, change command, name, description, icon, and so on. You then correct what you said and read it out loud before hitting send and your mind is like " That sounds a lot better" when its ACTUALLY WRONG! :( haha! ==================== Thanks, Chris If you need to email me off list, please use chris@cwm030.com Debian 11 Gnome 3
