Hello Friends!

This is my system:
Host: laptop Kernel: 4.19.0-6-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce 4.12.4
Distro: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)

>From this web page, https://wiki.debian.org/SynapticsTouchpad
I tried this

$ mkdir -p /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
$ echo 'Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "libinput touchpad catchall"
        MatchIsTouchpad "on"
        MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
        Driver "libinput"
        Option "Tapping" "on"
EndSection' > /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf
$ systemctl restart lightdm

It did not work. I guess it's to be expected since I'm using Debian 10 and
not 9?

Any workaround?

Thank you very much!

Same here except the size of file 40-libinput.conf...
Just to be sure, can you please provide us with its content?

Hi Friends!

Forgive my ignorance, I am not an expert.

How exactly do I

attach the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log immediately after restarting
lightdm and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf
?

Also, content of which are do you want to see?

Thank you for your patience

For /var/log/Xorg.0.log, I would say reply to this email via your favorite email interface (webmail or client), select the "attach a document" feature and pick the aforementioned file by navigating within your system to it.
You can also probably select your file via your favorite file manager and drag&drop it to your answer for automatic attachment.

Regarding /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf, you can do the same but as this file is very light, you can just type the following command and paste the result in your email:

cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf

Best regards,
l0f4r0

Both.

I'd rather have that attached as well, just to make sure there are no
format issues that copy-paste might hide (e.g. line endings).

Kind regards,
Andrei

Please attach the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log immediately after restarting
lightdm and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf

(they are probably small enough to be accepted by the list)

Kind regards,
Andrei
