My dear illustrious Team Leaders,

Good morning.

I need help with BT card identification in my laptop, enable it and
pair it with a BT enabled loudspeaker.

My daughter, a Graphic Designer, does this so easily with her Doze
laptop. Why should it be a problem with Linux, as all the core device
programs are in assembly and c?

I have posted my query as usual in the Debian forums, but that being a
cacophonic fish market, wouldn't yield an encouraging result, as
usual. The post is here:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=145792&p=718471

I assure you that, as always, I shall post a [Solved] post in the
Debian Forums in the end of this experience for future users.

Too many words for nothing. You could mention what model and makes is your
laptop.

mostly people do not read the documents on their machines and in case of BT
they do not know there is a hardware or software switch to enable/disable.

I can agree that it's good to post that info to mailing list, not just links
to forums, especially when first link points to second link, which points to
google drive...

seems your bluetooth is BCM43142A0

Susmita/Rajib: did you try to install firmware-bluez and firmware-misc-nonfree
to see if they help?

Windows by default loads and enables almost every bit of software it
has. It's why a basic installation of Win10 needs nearly ten gigabytes
of code.

Linux, by default, loads what is necessary to operate it. Things like
Bluetooth are applications, which many people don't need (neither
my desktop machine nor my server have it installed) which you generally
have to install yourself. A lot depends on which desktop environment
you have.

My laptop has installed:
blueman
bluetooth
bluez
bluez-obexd
libbluetooth3
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth

plus assorted modem packages which I assume were either standard or
pulled in as dependencies. It certainly works with a bluetooth audio
receiver. If you don't have all those packages installed, get them.

Then read a few articles like this:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth

Arch Linux is reasonably close to Debian and does good tutorials.

This is a direct edict from our equally illustrious FCC, the agency in
charge of the usage of our rf spectrum, their edicts preclude sharing
any information that would lead to over power use if exploited by some
open source coder, so that highly proprietary info is both sealed away
from us, and subject to all manner of non-disclosure clauses. There is
more, but basically as long as the FCC is run by politicians, and its
been decades since they had a real engineer in one of those chairs, so
its not likely to change for the better for gpl'd software until such
time as the majority of those chairs are warmed by engineers who have
made some effort to understand the situation.

As a licensed fcc operator, we have been thrown under the bus since the
later 70's by the politics of station management, treated as an expense
to be eliminated on the P&L statements of our broadcasters. There is no
one at the commission who understands the physics and the theory of
relativity well enough that I could make them understand the src of
distortions generated by klystron amplifiers simply because the electron
beam in such a device is traveling at a speed that brings in the effects
of mass vs C speed, aka relativity. We have invented better, more
efficient devices, but better only because the distances are lessor.
The relativity effects are still there.

Sorry, but there it is.

I know almost nothing about BT, I just follow examples.

I looked at this and repeated the search on
debian stretch 9.11.0 Broadcom Corp. BCM43142A0 Bluetooth 4.0
but I took out your debian stretch 9.11.0 and added firmware, to leave just
Broadcom Corp. BCM43142A0 Bluetooth 4.0 firmware
because I'm not sure how relevant the kernel version is for firmware.

The sixth hit was
    https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=48613

It claims to be a solution, though it's difficult to ascertain that
because there's no summary of the correct commands in the correct
order as the correct user: root.

I'm surprised Knoppix didn't get it to work. I *thought* their
distributions were inclusive (unlike Debian's), so that a larger
variety of hardware would be supported. But it's probably over a
decade since I used one.

Cheers,
David.

Dear illustrious Team Leaders,

I am returning to inform that the problem has been solved, though the
sound played through my External BT enabled Loudspeakers is
erratically chopped in between.

I shall have to arrange for means to improve sound quality of the
played sound.

Any suggestion in this regard would be welcome.

The Last Mile tweak was outrageously simple:
I just had to rename to file, like it was mentioned by Taron
Saribekyan, BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd to bcm.hcd, then restarting the
laptop. Now the BT package works as intended, every option activated.

The solution has been posted to the Debian Forums, link:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=145792&p=718471 , also
informed earlier.

I thank you all, particularly, Dr./Mr. Haskett, Wright, Curt, Follmann
and Joe, for staying with me till the end.

Regards,
Rajib Bandopadhyay
Etc.

I've read some advises to increase latency tolerance or similar in pulse.
may be try searching for advises on the internet in this regards.
