If you run sudo echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward then the shell you are running it from will run "sudo echo 1" and then try to put the output in that file. That fails because the running process is owned by you, not root. If you put the echo command into a script, and then run the script with sudo, this will work. -dsr- then
