The first thing I would do is make sure I can access the printer from the host OS. Then see if CUPS/SANE on the guest will find the printer by itself. If not, I'd copy the CUPS setup by copy and paste from the host to the guest. For SANE, I'd copy /etc/sane.d/dll.d/hplip over. The SANE driver will almost certainly be hpaio.
