Thanks to all for the suggestions:

    getmail + mutt: (Dan Ritter)
    claws-mail: (Andrei Popescu)
    sylpheed : (celejar)
    protonmail: (ghe2001)(celejar)
    protonmail + open-source-bridge: (celejar)

I'll be installing and testing them in some order during the coming months.
