Hi all,

Let me start with an apology for having overlooked parts of Laura's
and Rhonda's email in the heat of the discussion back then. Thanks to
some fellow DDs who reminded me of these items, I have soon after 
updated the blog post about Sharp to use the current name (in addition
to the previously corrected pronoun). I understand that the criticism
of my original blog text was valid, and I will take great care that
something similar will not happen again. But I believe that the issue
at hand has been conflated with issues about inclusiveness. I didn't
aim to harm inclusiveness.  I categorically reject any claims that I
am anti-inclusiveness, while I allow myself a personal opinion on
*persons* (independent of their self-identification).

I also apologize for that fact that my communication style in the past
has made others feel uncomfortable and was perceived as aggressive.
I think that even during the heat of the systemd and coc discussions this
was not appropriate, and I will do my best to use the same communication
style I usually use on Debian TeX, that is friendly, open, and
constructive.

I also will take care to listen carefully to advice and corrections,
and I want to stress that I do think that Debian should be an environment
where everyone matters and is respected, and that there is no place for
lowering others based on gender, race, beliefs etc.

In cooperation with DAM - and the invaluable help of some fellow DDs -
we have reached the agreement about my further status. DAM will write
about this in a separate email outlining the agreement and consequences.

Hi,

As Debian Account Managers we welcome Norbert's frank and honest appraisal
of his actions not only around his blog but also during the systemd and
Code of Conduct discussions in the past. We're sure that this mail will not
have been easy for him to write.

Norbert has committed to upholding Debian's values of open, constructive
and tolerant debate, to being more conscious of his communication style,
and to being more open to feedback from other people.

We have therefore agreed to reinstate Norbert's Developer status with
immediate effect[1] and to amend his removal to a warning only. The warning
is effective for six months from 7th January 2019 and Norbert understands
that any breach of the Code of Conduct during that period may result in his
immediate removal.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is our intention that Norbert should be able
to vote in this year's DPL election.

1: practically speaking, at the next keyring update. It is expected before the
   end of March 2019

I am so glad to see that email this morning. It doesn't quite reverse
all the drama and pain that came around in the new year, but it comes
pretty darn close.

Thanks to DAM for their hanlding of that difficult situation and to
Norbert's for humbly doing the right thing.

Good to hear!

I am glad we didn't need it in this specific instance, but I'd also like to take this chance to express support for the expulsion appeals procedure (plus the couple of tweaks I suggested in debian-private@) and hope that it will be finalised and formalised soon.
