Hi,

Do you mean that any Debian system benefits from installing Brave to
improve its security? Obviously not.

I see no benefit in including a ton of Chromium forks in Debian, let
alone one that thinks mining cryptocurrency on users' end devices is a
good idea and that steals donations from third party open source
projects through built-in scam in the browser.

Of course, if someone packages it, and pledges to remove all parts
incompatible with DFSG or Debian's other policies, nothing prevents it
from being included, but I'd recommend not doing so, and also recommend
not to use Brave at all.

I already replied: there is an ITP, where one could follow the ongoing
discussion (and yes, contribute to it!). Instead of doing the Groundhog
thing over and over again.

Communication is a two-way affair.

Cheers

please be aware that phoenix installs settings which will end up deleting your
browsing history when you close your browser after installing the package. This
is also mentioned in the package description further down. I'm writing this
here in the hopes that none of those reading this ends up nuking their browser
history.

I want to add a debconf override for this and upstream wants to help with
making this easier but as usual, additional help from those who know more about
firefox configuration settings than I do, is welcome. :)

Thanks!

cheers, josch

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. I depend on my history a lot.
Phoenix is not on my list any more

Thanks for considering that update. Since I use the browsing history instead of bookmarks
this would be a requirement before I can consider relying on phoenix.

(to be fair I am most probably going to write my own custom setup, using phoenix as inspiration)
