Hi all,

I wanted to use the python-gitlab cli but I noticed it wasn't in the
Debian packages and then I noticed that we have pyapi-gitlab as
python*-gitlab packages instead of python-gitlab.

I'm not sure what the right solution here is?

Maybe rename the pyapi-gitlab packages to include pyapi in the names?

File list of package python-gitlab in sid of architecture all

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gitlab/__init__.py
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gitlab/exceptions.py
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyapi_gitlab-6.2.3.egg-info/PKG-INFO
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyapi_gitlab-6.2.3.egg-info/dependency_links.txt
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyapi_gitlab-6.2.3.egg-info/requires.txt
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pyapi_gitlab-6.2.3.egg-info/top_level.txt
/usr/share/doc/python-gitlab/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/python-gitlab/copyright

It ships a gitlab module, so it's named correctly.

I'd encourage you to work with the upstreams to deconflict the namespace. This isn't really a problem Debian should solve.

Good point, I've contacted them via email and will file tickets if
there is no response.

Thanks for the links.

The pyapi-gitlab upstream responded to my email and mentioned that he
doesn't have time to maintain it and suggested that it would be fine
for Debian to switch to python-github.
