Hi, I would like to add BTS bot to IRC channel #debian-python with same notifications (uploads, bug reports) as in #debian-devel-changes filtered to maintainer/uploaders: Debian Python Modules Team <python-modules-team@lists.alioth.debian.org> Python Applications Packaging Team <python-apps-team@lists.alioth.debian.org > What do you think? -- Best regards Ondřej Nový

I don't think there's anything you've listed that we don't already get via email. Personally, I don't think I need it again on IRC. The existing zwiebelbot already handles getting information about bugs mentioned in the channel and I think that's all we need. Scott K

Upload notifications are few enough that I think it's fine, although those are usually easy enough to infer from the tagging commit messages, but bugs would be a lot of useless (IMO) traffic on the channel. Scott K P.S. Per Debian mailing list policy, don't CC me. I'm subscribed.

If it's disruptive to real-time communications (which I think is the most important function of the channel), then I'd be against it. But I don't mind an experiment to see if it helps, hurts, or is neutral. Cheers, -Barry

Would it be a good idea to first have it running in an analogous channel, ‘#debian-python-changes’? -- \ “You can never entirely stop being what you once were.
