The maintainer (jenner) seems MIA (even if not declered officially by
the mia team), nobody in the DPMT stepped up maintaining it in the last
10 years, and packaging a new upstream release that is out since at
least 2009.

There are rdeps, though.

Dependency problem found.
Now, probably removing them is not easy, so maybe I'm going to do a QA
upload and orphan the package in the meantime, but I still think it's
probably better to not have unmaintained stuff in the archive, so it'd
be nice if somebody could try fixing those.

Maybe it's best to invest a bit of time into updating it rather than dropping it just for the sake of its low popcon?
