#66398 — Bug#952108: Cloud variant: please enable CONFIG_VHOST_SCSI

FromJosh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org>

SubjectBug#952108: Cloud variant: please enable CONFIG_VHOST_SCSI
Message-ID<zCUXT-3zv-3@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: linux-image-cloud-amd64
Version: 5.5~rc5-1~exp1
Severity: normal

The normal Debian kernel configuration has CONFIG_VHOST_SCSI enabled,
but the cloud configuration does not seem to have it enabled. Please
enable CONFIG_VHOST_SCSI=m on the cloud configuration as well.

Out of curiosity, where is this actually needed?

Nested virtualization; vhost-scsi is needed on the host to serve disks
to a nested guest.

I think that might be out-of-scope for the cloud flavour, as I think
the idea is to provide a smaller package that doesn't do everything.

But as someone who has very little experience in cloudy stuff, I don't
feel qualified to make a final decision on this myself.

Ben.
