Package: src:linux
Version: 5.2.9-2
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation?
Trying to use ethernet controler - but it was very slow (single kilobytes/sec)
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I took driver from https://github.com/koljah-de/e1000e-dkms-debian/
removed calls to "mmiowb", compiled and installed - and this module works as expected.
Moreover kernel 5.2 from ubuntu also works.
*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***

thanks
We have also seen this with the 4.19 kernel in buster.

MAC-PHY desync may occur causing misdetection of link up event.
Disabling K1-off feature can work around the problem.

BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1836152
Forwardport from

This works around a possible stalled packet issue, which may occur
due to
clock recovery from the PCH being too slow, when the LAN is
transitioning
from K1 at 1G link speed.

Might this one be related:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1627816 ?
What do dmesg and ethtool say on respective link speed?
def4ec6dce39 ("e1000e: PCIm function state support") would be in
5.3-rc1 and above and was not backported. If you test the package from
experimental, is the issue gone? If you cherry-pick this commit on
top is the issue gone?
Regards,
Salvatore

I tried installing the linux-image-5.3.0-trunk-amd64 package from
experimental on buster but I still experiencing the same issue.

linux-image-5.3.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 seems to be working which is available via buster-backports. I tried suspending a laptop and waking it up and no latency is produced while running a ping against another node on my LAN. -- Markus
